On January 26, the organizers warned they'd have to switch to CS2 if nobody signs up. Despite its open nature, they received zero signups. "Valorant is not dead." assured the announcement post.

Yeah really sounds like the organizers are out of touch with what the competitive, organized teams are needing. And $400 entry fee? Yeesh, that's how you get an immediate no from all your casual teams and then your pros see there's no one signed up.

Entry fee matches up with the prize pool. Also 11 teams have already signed up for cs2

$10,000 31+ teams
$8,000 24-30 teams
$6,000 17-23 teams
$4,000 12-16 teams
$2,000 8-11 teams
$1,000 4-7 teams

I didn't see it in the article, but when was the tournament supposed to be held? If it was during one of the Valorant majors or something, maybe that's why?

I don't follow Val very closely (love Boaster tho), but I thought it had a pretty active circuit.

Edit: Per the link you're replying to, the tournament is scheduled for March 15-17. Valorant Masters Madrid is that week. That's probably why.

This just feels absurd. That's a high entrance fee, in particular for any smaller team.
