Nordic countries are the biggest EV market right now. I have no clue why this imbecile tries to destroy his own business by offending Swedes.

successful social democracies scare the ever-loving shit out of the united states conservative rich. it proves they are evil, and their lies are as such.

He's probably worried that if he gives in then US Tesla workers will unionise.

[-] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 41 points 9 months ago

Didn't the president of the UAW say Tesla workers were on his list to unionize?

[-] APassenger@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago

That's why the labor laws are "unconstitutional."

[-] Ab_intra@lemmy.world 46 points 9 months ago

Because he don't know how strong unions stands in the Nordic countries. I'm really proud of my sweidish neighbors!

[-] ffolkes@fanexus.com 14 points 9 months ago

I'm not Swedish, but I'm proud of them, too!

[-] BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 9 months ago

I'm not Swedish either and I'm proud of that

[-] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 33 points 9 months ago

You know why.

We all know why.

Hes a right wing fashy control freak that thinks the peasantry should just do as they are told, and too far up his own ass to ever consider the possibility of himself being wrong.

[-] Tyfud@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

This is impressively accurate.

[-] jaemo@sh.itjust.works 7 points 9 months ago

This is so spot on, it hurts. I can't even see the target for the dart, and it read in my head as though it were just inner monologue.

I'm pretty sure China is the biggest EV market. There just simply aren't enough people in Sweden.

The population of Sweden is 10M. A little bit more than the population of metro Chicago.

As a percentage of population, EV adoption is extremely high. But the ceiling for the EV market is nothing compared to China.

[-] dojan@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. There are a LOT of Chinese EVs here. Volvo recently launched a new EV too that’s super popular.

There’s also Volkswagen and Polestar of course. That said you see a lot of BYD, MG, Lynk & Go here. I don’t keep track of all the brands, my roomie is more of a motor nerd, I’d ask him if he wasn’t sleeping.

In short though, the Chinese EVs tend to be really good deals.

[-] anguo@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago

You misunderstand their comment, they're saying to sell EVs to China.

[-] dojan@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Ah, you're absolutely right.

To be fair, I think it'll be kind of tough to get a foothold on the Chinese market for the same reason. There's a lot of really good Chinese EVs so why go with something from a foreign market when the local stuff will do just fine?

[-] anguo@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago

Aaaand that's why they're getting downvoted.

[-] hagelslager@feddit.nl 1 points 9 months ago

Volvo released a new EV besides Polestar (which as far as I'm aware is also tied to Volvo (and it's parent Geely)?

[-] dojan@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Think we're talking about the same car, the EX30?

I know that Polestar is their like, "fancy" brand, but when I say Volvo I generally mean Volvo and not Polestar. Just like how I keep Opel and Peugeot separate.

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

They seem to have 4 models at this point. Unfortunately, not one of them is a reasonably sized car. 3 SUVs and a Crossover.

[-] dojan@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Yeah it's so depressing. No one makes small cars anymore, they're all gigantic battleships.

Volvo to be fair has been making battleships for decades, like the V70 was like, the most popular car here for the longest time, and you still see Volvo battleships from the 70s rolling around here.

Nordic countries

Also

And from Norway

Fellesforbundet also supports the Swedish Tesla strike by refusing to offload Tesla cars in Norway that are scheduled for delivery in Sweden. The federation has announced further boycott action to stop Tesla cars from reaching Sweden via Norway if no agreement is reached before 20 December.

This fight isn't limited to ONE country

[-] NeoNachtwaechter@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

pretty sure China is the biggest EV market.

Only a market for cheap vehicles (and a few expensive ones, but they need to be large, so that you can take your luxury back seat and have your driver in front). If there's any country on the planet that really doesn't need Tesla, it's China.

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip -1 points 9 months ago

It is just yet an other case of an American believing every other country reacts the same as the US.

Something something superiority complex.

[-] CH3DD4R_G0BL1N@sh.itjust.works 5 points 9 months ago

Can’t pin this shithead on America, bud. Sorry to disappoint.

[-] jaemo@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 months ago

Well, it's true that while he may not be a direct result of the American Dream Inc's breeding division, he certainly aspires to the archetype in his behaviour, decision making paradigm, and career arc...

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 2 points 9 months ago

Oh no, I can.

He may not have been born there, but he definitely is a product of it's unbridled capitalism.

[-] CH3DD4R_G0BL1N@sh.itjust.works 4 points 9 months ago

Homes, he didn’t even come to America until ~19-20 years old, well after core personality is developed. He’s a product of South African apartheid wealth accumulation and a rich upbringing. Keep slinging your shit though, you do you.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The company’s refusal to ratify a collective bargaining agreement with a small number of workers associated with the Swedish union IF Metall has led to boycotts by other regional unions, turning what should have been a quickly resolved dispute into an ongoing disaster for the electric car company.

This week, yet another humiliation was visited upon the firm: An additional labor union has decided to take action against the car manufacturer, and this time the end result could be the stifling of Tesla charging stations throughout the country.

The Swedish Union for Service and Communications Employees, or Seko, published a statement Wednesday, announcing it would be initiating a “sympathy” action against Tesla over its anti-union policies:

Over the past several months, unions throughout Sweden and other parts of Europe have banded together to protect Scandinavia’s labor model from Tesla’s attempted disruption.

So-called “sympathy” actions or strikes are a method by which unions not directly connected to a particular conflict can express their support and put pressure on an offending company.

He has repeatedly expressed his disdain for collective bargaining and, during one particularly inspired bout of rhetorical bullshit, said of organized labor: “I just don’t like anything which creates kind of a lords and peasants sort of thing”—which is an amazing statement coming from a guy whose cumulative wealth rivals that of any feudal lord in history.

Swedish Chef vs Elmo Musky

I know who holds the cleaver!

[-] Nighed@sffa.community -3 points 9 months ago

That's a pretty non article - what does that union have to do with the chargers?

[-] JoBo@feddit.uk 10 points 9 months ago
[-] Nighed@sffa.community 9 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I did, it's little more than the summary. It's mostly adds

Edit: I apologise, there was a continue reading button hidden between adds after the related content section.....

Nothing directly, but solidarity between workers can be a bitch.
