Prolific Twitter Keyboard Warrior Is Running for Office in Minnesota

Will Stancil, a man who’s made a name for himself online as a feisty defender of President Joe Biden and Democratic policies, announced Wednesday that he’s running for a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives. But Stancil says social media platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter, aren’t going to be a very important part of his upstart campaign.

“Well it’s out there now! Yep, I’m running for Minnesota House District 61A. More info very soon. This campaign won’t be conducted on Twitter, but if you like what I’m generally about, or like metro planning and dislike far-right extremism, here you go,” Stancil tweeted on Wednesday with a link to donate to his campaign.

If not for Hexbear I wouldn’t know of his existence.

imagine thinking that reality is grounded in vibes and not the other way around.

Vibes are grounded in reality?

[-] Llituro@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

In the sense that the inputs to how people think and behave are material ones, yes. Vibes are people's interaction with reality.

Damn it, he is being trolled for his only good position, that Nazis are bad and should be fought.

I'm not saying he's faking it. I'm sure it's authentic. But he only made fighting Nazis (and not leftists) this thing recently. It can't a coincidence that he's now running for office as a dem.

I don't follow him, but I kind of keep tabs on communists dunking on him. But I think that was genuine, once nazis and right wingers started injecting themselves in his arguments with the left as he became more of a meme/high profile. I think that his run for office is more of just trying to channel his self regard and prominence as a meme into personal power. I know a lot of white collar professionals that start thinking suddenly about running for local office out of a belief that "Hey I am smarter than everyone and know what's best, I should try to become a politician to do my part in rationalizing society".

"Hey I am smarter than everyone and..."

That's 100% true for him. That mindset should have a name that has a Wikipedia page. Something like "political lanyard brain". I think Obama and every single last person in his inner circle had that problem. When they had a typical meeting - the smugness level must have reached 4000 degrees in the room.

The West Wing was a major vector for political lanyard brainworms

That's ridiculous, that said I'm off to buy Christmas decorations from my favorite online vendor, bracebelden.com.
