We read "All quiet on the Western front" in high school, really wasn't a fan though. From a contemporary aspect it was certainly very informative and detailed, but I really wasn't a fan of the convoluted and often dull writing style.

Decades later I randomly started reading "heaven has no favorites" (found it among my grandpa's book collection after he passed), but I stopped about a third in or so. Really not my style.

Exact same experience here, but only with all quiet on the western front.

I also read only this one and pretty much share the same feelings about it.

All quiet on the western front is easily the greatest war book ever written, and i've read plenty. Only one or two come close.

I'm currently reading the three comrades, it's a wonderful book so far. Based on these two, i'll probably read others like Night in Lisbon.
