Public safety should be the government’s responsibility. Why are they expecting a private foreign organization to do their job? And to be penalized for doing it?

This was such an obvious result of their passing C-18 that their complaints just amplify their ignorance and lack of foresight passing bills to appease local media lobbyists.

I agree. Do we really want governments to reliant on private corporations? Can't they use emergency broadcast alerts, make a Mastadon instance and point people to it, stuff life that? I don't even know use FB anymore except for events and the Messenger.
