You don't need them to be on the PlayStore. Look at F-Droid or Obtainium.
Yeah Android police is hit or miss. Play store emulators are shitty and come with baked-in ads and garbage. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are being taken down by the original developers of the emulators they stole the GPL code from to make them.
