63 million a year for a Brooks/Vanvleet backcourt is something else lmao

[-] beefstu@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Maybe brooks will be more humble? Unlikely. Houston will be a hot mess this year.

[-] sdlesion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

They will be must watch TV for the wrong reasons!!

[-] bigcow31@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Wouldn't the backcourt be Vanvleet and Green?

I’m guessing fvv/jalen green/brooks/Jabari/sengun. Mills, Christopher, whitmore, jeff green and landale off the bench? Defense is a question mark but they could push for the playin if green and Jabari take a step forward under Udoka.

They also still have KPJ and Amen Thompson as well. It's going to be interesting seeing how that guard rotation shakes out.

No way. What are the Rockets doing?

Nobody knows that, including their management.

[-] plushboringfrog@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Hey Rockets, I’m still available

[-] solongaphasia@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

rockets, sign this frog

[-] Samw1ch@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Was there competition for him? This seems like a gigantic overpay especially after Memphis saying he wouldn't return under any circumstances.

[-] mersh@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Surely this will bring some maturity to the young squad

[-] Purrito@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

"Maturity" to not speak to the media after they lose while talking a lot of shit before the game

[-] unwinagainstable@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Massive overpay.

[-] tigerdactyl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago

Woof. No idea what Houston is doing. They’ve been so bad for three years. I guess they got better but at a gross cost.

[-] Kissing_Ash@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Wait why??? This feels stupid lol

[-] Orange@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Not a fan of this signing at all as a Rockets fan. FVF I don't mind because he can help lead the young guys for the next two years and then Amen takes over. Brooks I just don't get.

[-] LemmyKravitz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It's FVV, btw.

[-] zoomshoes@vlemmy.net 2 points 1 year ago

Brooks isn't as bad as his reputation would lead you believe, but I do not love that contract at all...

[-] ObiWanGinobili@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah people were joking? he should be out of the league. 80 mill though...

[-] NoRamyunForYou@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Holy crap. Wasn't expecting this! Is the market really still that hot?

[-] plushboringfrog@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Hey Rockets, I’m still available

[-] brownbreadboy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Probably did this to get more eyes on the team since his antics are constantly talked about

[-] Calvin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Wow, I know he's a good defender and all but that's a lot of money + years committed.

[-] petercockroach@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Happy Canada Day to this fool.

[-] brokenjumper@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

The Rockets seem like they'll be fun to watch and maybe this pushes them closer to being a play-in team?

[-] nbafantest@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe they can front load it so that in 2 years it's a reasonable contract? Idk

[-] zpoex@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

There's no wayyy
