Hello all,

I'm playing Knights of pen and paper for the second time, it's a nice time waster IMO (free part is better than the paid one, again IMO).

Last cRPG I really liked was Neverwinter Nights, but it has sure aged a little bit.

Would love a lazy rpg on android or a slightly more story rpg on linux (no graphic card ๐Ÿ˜…).

Any recommendations?

Thank you all ๐Ÿ’– !

Pick up a GBA/DS emulator for Android and play Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced/A2

Or even better Advance wars on my gba micro! ๐Ÿ˜Ž Such a shame that my DS linker died some years ago and there seems to be no new ones, good screen and lots of nice games (I used it for GBA games too because of the screen).

The Avernum series, on Steam. There's at least six.

Another I just thought of is Legend of Grimrock.

I already have that one on steam, good catch, I'll check if it runs well on my little linux box!

maybe the pathfinder games by owlcat. the pathfinder rules they use are very very simmiliar to d&d 3.5 so, should feel familiar if you enjoyed neverwinter.

they are not super hardware hungry and run without a problem through proton/wine.

Thank you will check out! I always thought it was realtime.

when they released they were real time with pause, like the old baldurs gate games.

they added a turn based mode though, in a later patch.

Interesting, will definitely check out now. Thanks!

Wrath of the righteous runs pretty poorly in my experience, no really playable without a graphic cards. Kingmaker works better though

morrowind with openmw should be fine on both android and linux

Thanks, gotta see if a 22 yo game still has it :-)

it is my fave game ever and still has a cozy but sizeable community, I hope you have fun with it

Shattered Pixel Dungeon, for Android

[-] Valmond@lemmy.mindoki.com 1 points 8 months ago

I'm not a that huge fan of the a bit too random probability to win in PD, have only played the original though...

No, shattered is better. I survive longer, anyway.

This ^ on PC and stoneshard

[-] Valmond@lemmy.mindoki.com 1 points 7 months ago

Already tried it :-) a bit ooold but I'll try to plod along for a while.

Stoneshard looks promising, if it works on Linux it'd be a breeze to setup from steam too, thanks!

Slice and dice on android is pretty good. It's turn based fighting hame with a group of 5 different members that you can level 3 times through the missions into a ton of different classes. It's pretty tough but super fun and addictive and bound to piss you off sometimes due to heavy rng when you die on a boss

You can play the demo for free and the full game is a few dollars, well worth the hours I've put in at least.

Already had it installed ๐Ÿ˜Š but didn't get through the tutorial, a mix of too much "stuff" hard to grasp (right away, I mean it's the tutorial).

The old Might & Magic games are very nice. Especially 4 and 5 that you can combine into an even bigger game with additional quests and an ultimate ending are awesome. And it should even run on your phone through ScummVM.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.mindoki.com 1 points 7 months ago

You mean Heroes of Might & Magic? I remember there were several closely named ones. Played the 3 so much :-)

[-] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 2 points 7 months ago

No, just Might and Magic. Same universe but different genre. They were RPGs while the Heroes series was strategy.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.mindoki.com 1 points 7 months ago

Thanks, will check out the 4 :-) !

Not really a time waster, but a classic: Lone Wolf Saga

[-] FreddyNO@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

I'm working on one, solo dev though - will be a while

[-] wax@feddit.nu 1 points 8 months ago

Haven't played it yet, but underrail is on my todo-list
