Am I misreading this graph or is it implying there were previous sales around $100 or so? I just don't fucking get the gun skins thing.

That's about right.

It's ultimately a function of rarity and the cost of gambling on boxes.

On average I expect they pay more than $100 to get it out of a box.

500 dollars for a skin!? Either CS players are the biggest suckers in the world or this has to be a scam. Or both.

As a CS player, I'm offended. I think it's also justifiably expensive because of the rarity to generate those skins.
