Phil Westlake, who used to design IT systems for several large UK companies.

That's who.

I get that a lot of my IT colleagues don't want to faff around with self hosting email, or even running their own domain. But I really struggle with the idea that those who work in IT would ever trust their email to their ISP. That's just asking for trouble.

2 weeks? Something has gone horribly wrong. They either don't have backups or they're corrupt and they're trying data recovery. After this long it seems pretty unlikely they're ever coming back.

Something has gone horribly wrong. Virgin Media's e-mail has quite often been flaky - I lost it for a couple of days in the past and it was unclear how to get it back. Recently they slipped out he fact that new customers would bnot be getting e-mail.

I've moved some of my accounts to Apple's iCloud e-mail which now supports custom domains.

The system is screwed for sure. I've not been with Virgin for around 9 years yet last week got an email to my Gmail account from Virgin saying there was email issues.

Even listed my old Virgin details on it.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
