That's just because North America is the only continent that's big. Where else could you possibly fit Texas, Alaska, and Hawaii in one place?

[-] booty@hexbear.net 44 points 6 months ago

it's just so hard to explain to them yuropeens how big america is. they never believe me when i tell them that texas is so big it can fit montana, texas, and california in it

North America*
^*Excl.^ ^Mexico^

Does it exclude just Mexico, or does it exclude all of Central America? Does it include Greenland?

I'm guessing it's just the US and Canada, so they should have just said that.

[-] supafuzz@hexbear.net 33 points 6 months ago

when anyone in the US or Canada says North America they mean White North America

[-] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 14 points 6 months ago

same with "Europe". It's literally just Asia but it has mayos so we gotta pretend it's a separate continent (they bruise easy)

[-] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 10 points 6 months ago

It excludes all of Central America. I’m assuming Mexico is mixed in with North America.

[-] edge@hexbear.net 20 points 6 months ago

It has a footnote that says it excludes Mexico, but it doesn't say if it excludes the rest of Central America.

[-] Rom@hexbear.net 12 points 6 months ago

Central America is its own bar so I would assume so.

[-] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 10 points 6 months ago

Really? I assumed we were excluded because we’re in a separate category. Mexico isn’t usually considered a part of us.

[-] Tankiedesantski@hexbear.net 24 points 6 months ago

How the fuck did they get that world average? Can't be by population because East and South Asia is about half the world's population and they're on 19 and 22%.

Did these dumb fucks just average out all the countries?

[-] SSJ2Marx@hexbear.net 22 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

North America drags the average here so high that literally every other listed region has below average car usage, lmao.

But seriously I wanna see Africa and Oceania too.

excluding mexico

mayos already redefining FOR A 2ND TIME their already once redefined janked up version of continents in order to keep us-foreign-policy alive

Mexico is North America
Europe is Northwest Asia

whats crazy is they have so much car infrastructure in china. there's incredible capacity for wall to wall traffic but also tons of public transport

i wonder if it will get more carbrained as everyone becomes wealthier or they are just investing so heavily into good public transport it won't really matter

[-] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 16 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I like how they for no reason split up the mayomeadow into 4 different arbitrary parts that don't even have recognized distinctions. Is terf Island north northwest Asia? or west northwest Asia?

[-] Tankiedesantski@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

northwest Asia

Don't lump them in with us, we don't want them either.
