Kaiser, one of the largest healthcare organizations in the United States, said it was notifying 13.4 million members of a data breach earlier in April.

And I’m assuming Kaiser was being a conscientious and responsible company that they made sure these 13.4 million people had given very explicit informed consent to their data being shared with advertisers prior to the data breach, right?

Absolutely! That’s one of the many things you are agreeing to when they have you sign the little electronic pad that has no other text on it as “consent to treat you today.” I would have thought that was obvious!
