This is the inevitable result of an electoral system that establishes the dominance of two similar parties (a #Uniparty ) allied with permission to accept huge amounts of money to these two parties but no-one else. Same here in Stockholm. Now that the 21 km tunneled motorway ringroad is nearing completion they're adding several widenings of connecting motorways etc as separate projects even though even in the planning documents they're explicitly consequences of the big new motorway "bypass".

@ajsadauskas @fuck_cars absolutely cooked decision making. Sometimes the obvious answer is the correct one. Anyone with an even basic level of understanding of road geometry can (and did) spot the problem with these projects from a mile away. Sigh.
I sometimes wonder about an alternative timeline where the m4 east was built circa '04. That was the actual """missing link""".
When can we have our surface street space back for public/active transport and placemaking?

You can laugh at someone's fragile masculinity without associating it with their body. The correlation between car-culture and body weight is not an excuse for fat-shaming.

Stay on-topic. Submissions should be on-topic to the externalities of car culture in urban development and communities globally. Posting about alternatives to cars and car culture is fine. Don't post literal car fucking.

Be respectful to people who are a victim of traffic violence or otherwise traumatized by it. News articles about crashes and statistics about traffic violence are allowed.
