My wife started playing Mother 1 recently, how "doomed to play the entire Mother series" am I?
You're doomed to play the whole thing, but all three games combined are about a Xenoblade 3 or persona 5's length.

I have had it in mind to play Mother 2 for ages though so it works out =)
Mother 1 is kind of a slog, so if she gets through it, then 100% doomed.
She says "not really, I think people aren't used to dungeon crawlers" and "try Wizardy 1"!!!!!!

That game has such an immaculately told story! The characters, the pacing, the game mechanics, the twists, the ending! And the animation!! It's all sooooo good that after I first finished it, I immediately started another playthrough just to experience it again! Legit the best story in gaming
Have you seen this fan animation? It's basically a Cabanela fancam from the old Internet (it's fantastic)
Add in a full playthrough of Umineko no Naku Koro ni, took me like 150+ hours but it did have change the way I look at the world and how I interpret stories in a rather significant way.
