put one in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487250 tried to build from source just to see if I could locate the issue myself, but didn't have any luck. Then decided give emoji-pick (ibus typing booster) a try, and quickly learned IME's are far too complex and I have no idea what I'm doing. (I could get it to work inside it's own shortcut editor, but nowhere else. Not even sure how to check what input method my system is using)
Don't ask me why I just wasted 3 days for emojis - you'd think I'd have given up sooner
