I just noticed that Monero network hash rate has dipped. Based on the current price, it was comfortably sitting around 2.8 GH/s. At the time of writing, it's around 1.8 GH/s.

Now, I go to check and it seems like there's a significant hash rate (about 50%) dip on top pools like Nanopool, SupportXMR, and HashVault. From the history chart on MiningPoolStats, this dip isn't the usual fluctuation.

My first assumption was, probably the "botnet" was taken down somehow. This story on BleepingComputer also kinda coincides with this hashrate dip.

Coincidence? Most likely. However, I'd love to hear if anyone has more insight in this matter.
