I just wish the writing for most of his run wasn't such ass. I loved the direction he took the character, but you can only do so much with shitty scripts. Honestly I was getting fed up with it during Smith's run.

I've recently come back to Who, having left during Capaldi's tenure. Ncuti is amazing. Has this almost sassy, fun exterior but you can see something darker lying beneath. Makes me want to go back and watch what I missed in spite of the poor writing.
Yep. I didn't initially like him when he came on and I stopped watching round then. I started watching the reboot show again a few years ago and he's my favourite now.
