• Wipeout HD/Fury can be played using RPCS3
• 2048 can be played using vita3k
• Original/2097/3 can be played using any PSX emulator

There is also BallisticNG, which replicates the various flight physics of the various titles 1 to 1 (excluding Fusion), and faithfully recreates the PS1 aesthetic (right down to the polygons jiggling, if you want that). It has mods, custom tracks, crafts and campaigns. If the old graphics style does it for you, it's basically endless wipeout content.

It's insanely amazing on the deck. I recommend binding the back buttons to discard/use pickups, so you never have to move your thumb off throttle.

Other titles worth mentioning are both Redout games. They have an immaculate sense of speed, though have quite different gameplay systems and track design. (No weapons, strafing replaces air breaks)

It's an enhanced PC port that uses the original assets from the Playstation CD and I had a lot of fun with it on my deck a few months ago...

In my opinion, yes. It’s the one that best captures the feeling. It’s has that gritty industrial look and the best music.

The later ones are also good, but they’re a bit too “clean futuristic” to scratch my Wipeout itch.

First one hasn’t aged as well. Mainly because if you bump into a wall ever so slightly, you lose most of your speed. 2097 and onward are better at keeping your momentum going. I also love those spark effects that come when bumping into walls in 2097.

I just play BallisticNG because it has the best features from all wipeout and f zero games combined.

If you ask me, get a PSVR set up and play it that way. You might need a strong stomach, but it’s amazing.

I've got nothing to add but thanks for this thread I love wipeout and learned some new ways to play it!

I would say the definitive PS1 Wipeout game is Wip3out: Special Edition.

Specifically the special edition as it comes with double the number of tracks where the best of the previous two games are selected for the bonus content.

Also the wipeout 3 soundtrack is absolute perfection.

As for how to play, retroarch is probably the recommended approach these days, PS1 emulation is pretty mature and has been for a while.

The collection on PS4 picks up the work from the fantastic Wipeout HD and Fury and adds the Vita game on the same package. It even has full VR support.

Just FYI: if you're gonna use a PS1 emulator, use Duckstation. It's phenomenal.

The PSP ones are good too and a bit more modern, they run great in ppsspp

Original wipeout? Phantom HD Edition.

Wipeout Omega Collection for PS4 includes HD+Fury+2049 (all of the content from PS3 and Vita), and a lot of the PSP content had made its way into HD+Fury iirc.

For everything else, your options are emulator or tracks/ships ported over to BallisticNG. IMO you can just play BallisticNG as is though, it's an amazing game.

Isn't the ps4 version a collective remake of all the previous games?
