President Joe Biden traveled to Florida on Saturday to survey the destruction from Hurricane Idalia and comfort victims of the storm, but he did not meet Governor Ron DeSantis, a potential presidential rival, who opted not to come.

Biden, who praised DeSantis during the visit, said he was not disappointed by the governor's absence and said DeSantis had helped plan the trip.

DeSantis' spokesperson said on Friday the governor had no plans to meet Biden, saying "the security preparations alone that would go in to setting up such a meeting would shut down ongoing recovery efforts."

Desantis is a little bitch. Imagine a governor refusing to meet the president.

Between Trump avoiding the debate and DeSantis avoiding even been seen with Biden after a disaster, the Republicans are really nailing the point home that they are absolute wusses. Political cowards.

He saw what happened to Christie when Obama showed up after Sandy.

Yeah, Republicans turned on Christie for acting like a normal human being instead of a political hack.

So DeSantis, in his pathetic and desperate quest for political power, would much rather run away from anything that has even the slightest possibility of making him look as inferior as he actually is. In other words, he's a cowardly political hack who spends every waking minute of his time calculating his next move in terms of optics, and not in terms of what is right, or true, or good for the people of his state, etc.

Republicans have always been snowflakes

Remember when Chris Christie was mercilessly mocked by fox news for "hugging" Obama after he shook the President's hand during Sandy relief efforts?

Meatball Ron's campaign staff does. That guy may be an idiot, but someone on his staff had a flicker of sanity for a second to prevent the final bullet being shot into this campaign that should have died before it ever even started.

If you’re part of a political party and/or vote for a political party that thinks that if the governor of a state is republican they can never been seen with a democratic president in any way, what is wrong with you?

Do you mean, like, alphabetically, or from the worst things first?

I'm not sure what Lemmy's character limit for a comment is, but you would reach it.

It could have been politically perilous for DeSantis to be photographed with Biden overlooking storm damage now as the nominating race intensifies.

My god republicans are so childish. Imagine being such a temperamental idiot that you can't be trusted to look at a photograph of a Governor meeting the President without it somehow changing your vote.

[-] bobman@unilem.org 14 points 1 year ago

Everyone knows republicans are idiots and scum.

Why do you think they're the party of religion?

[-] wagoner@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

But thankfully Biden praised desantis..............

Imagine being an immature meatball your entire life and when people point it out you automatically become a pile of shit.

With DeSantis absent

If only this was from the Florida governor's mansion. Permanently.
