It’s a damned shame this is the one and only expansion because they switched game engines. The game has been great to play with the latest patches, and I feel like Night City, the characters, the corps, there’s a lot more stories to tell there.
Lol what, how? I installed cyberpunk recently to give it another try and I couldn't go 15 minutes without running into another bug. The AI sucks, the physics crap out constantly and don't get me started on the driving (or melee combat, lmao). And the game demands that you immerses yourself in the world; impossible with all the bugs.
And on top of that the game just isn't very fun. The story however is good and is the one thing that drives you forward but it only gets you so far. I'm convinced that cyberpunk was stillborn from day one and no amount of work is going to bring it back to life.
I'll be honest, it kinda sounds like you went in with a pre-formed opinion and expectation and fulfilled that. I played shortly after release without looking at any reviews or the online discourse about the game, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The bugs were there, sure, but nothing that broke the game or ruined my experience. The driving criticism seems strange, considering that the driving was one of my favorite parts of cyberpunk, especially now that it's been tuned after release. Sure, it's no simulator, but cruising around the city and listening to music is pretty seamless and enjoyable. And melee combat is awesome?? Mantis claws or gorilla arms and you're tearing through enemies. I managed to be very immersed, cruising through the desert while listening to Morro Rock after an emotional scene with some of my favorite characters elicited some powerful feelings of wistfulness and melancholy.
Obviously, this is all just my opinion, but I formed it organically through playing the game. I didn't go in with any expectations, and while I have a lot of criticism for the game's glaring issues, your criticisms seem rooted in confirmation bias of other people's opinions more than the real experience of the game's current state. I would definitely say it's worth the money now, though release maybe not for those that aren't massive fans of the setting.
Weird I guess we had totally different experiences. The enemy AI could have been smarter, and I spotted a few graphics glitches, but otherwise it was smooth sailing for me.
I don't care if I'm alone, I can't wait to play through this again right the new content.

IKR, the whole point of having multiple endings is we can choose between different endings usually they are good, bad and neutral. I played till last mission and searched for how many possible endings there are so i can choose good ending (i know it’s not exciting to see how it ends before completing but that’s how I enjoy it) and seeing V dies in every option felt like i wasted all that time playing all these missions trying to stay alive only to die. I understand that’s the whole point of “cyberpunk” genre but i felt like with one good endings the could have made the game more enjoyable at least to some gamers and still satisfy cyberpunk enjoyers with other bad endings.
I think you're coming up against the genre there. Folks who love the themes enough to make an entire game out of it aren't going to dump them for mass appeal. Much like how Lovecraftian horror ends in the madness or death of pretty much anyone involved, or how in high fantasy practically no major "good" characters die at all, unless it drives the plot (the classic "plot armour" that sours my experience of such stories).
In what I'd consider the happiest ending, you've bought V time to enjoy the remainder of their life relatively stress-free, surrounded by family, their love, with all escaping Night City with the distant hope of a cure. That's about as peaceful an ending a Night City Merc can hope for, and I find it hard to believe that it was pointless fighting for that.
In the Cyberpunk universe, for runners, it is better to die in a blaze of glory with a crazy reputation than to die of old age.
This isn't well conveyed in the game though, so I can see why you and other people feel that way. But happy endings are fews and far between. So it makes sense that there isn't a truly happy ending.
This is why I feel that in this case, the secret ending is the best ending.
Uhh did I get the same ending as you? I was alive and well when I left night city with Panam and her crew.
There are like 7 different endings with V in various states at the end.
I'm not really interested in the DLC because more than half the endings leave it on a cliff hanger all pointing to a certain new task on the space station casino (including the hidden ending that was clearly intended as the canon ending), and the DLC looks to not actually continue any of those cliff-hanger endings based on what they've shown and talked about.
Ah, well shit. Now I need to go back and play it for one of those endings. Driving off into the desert was kinda a weird ending.

That's cool, an expansion pack eh? Guess I'm out of touch. I didn't pick up the game at release due to it's condition at launch; is it debugged and production ready these days? Been on the hunt for a new game world to explore since finishing New Vegas recently.
I doesn't hold up to New Vegas, but the new changes look like they'll finally make Cyberpunk feel like the good game it should have been. I think it's worth a try when it comes out
Mostly, the bugs that are left are more funny than irritating.
I played it for the first time about a month ago and it’s actually really good. It took them this long to make the game they really wanted to make and it was worth the wait.
Don't know how I feel about an increase in level cap being tied to paid dlc
This has been the standard in RPGs for as long as expansions have existed though. What's the point of a level cap increase without any content to do at those new higher levels?
That is something that used to be fairly standard. Borderlands is a huge one that comes to mind.
Yeah, that's been a thing in RPGs and FPS-RPGs consistently for several decades. Fallout 3 and New Vegas, most of the Borderlands series, The Division 2 all spring to mind.
Why is that a sticking point?
This game is very modifiable, you can have a level cap of 2000 if you want.
