Hello everyone, a little theard on a topic with which I disagree with the majority of the Monero community: Monero as a way to store value.
We read a lot here and on other forums about Bitcoin being the best existing store of value, and Monero being the best exchange intermediary.
I disagree, and I think Monero is not only the best intermediary for exchanges (decentralized, anonymous, fungible etc.) but is also the best as a way to store value.
What are the true qualities of a value reserve, in addition to the well-known ones?
- Long-term viability: Bitcoin doesn't have it, Monero does thanks to its long-tail inflation, which encourages miners to secure the network.
- Fungibility: to avoid the risk of accumulated value being set aside on past exchanges ('tainted '). Bitcoin doesn't have it, Monero does
- Anonymity, so that this store of value does not become public knowledge. Bitcoin doesn't have it, Monero does
Don't get me wrong, I think that Bitcoin is also a very good way to store value, and should be the best in an ideal world.
However, as our world is not perfect, I think that Monero long-term viability, fungibility and anonymity criteria make it not only very good for storing value, but even better than Bitcoin.
What do you think?
