Flip flop chads rise up!
I usually don't give a shit but getting a good brand of running shoes does help a lot on my jogs. Otherwise, it's what's on sale at Shoe Carnival.
Just another thing that would be solved if we could somehow ban displays of wealth
I gave up on shoes. I am rocking the crocs. I got a pair of boots for feet coveting if I need it. That's it though.
I did have a sneaker head emotion when the service cheetah got popular a few months back. I wanted to get a pair of the yankee kickers
rocking the crocs.
Hell yea dude
I’ve heard crocs look like clown shoes because they allow your toe more movement to help support your balance, which can help prevent atrophy of those muscles that’s really common with modern footwear and sedentary lifestyle. I don’t know why if this is true, but I will continue wearing crocs because they’re comfy
Are you me? I've basically only worn crocs and timberlands for the past decade. I'm either going for comfort or function.
What's a sneakerhead?
What's a "sneaker"? A "sport"/"basketball" shoe?
Sport shoes are my main kind of shoe cuz 1) I walk a lot, and my feet hurt if I don't use a sport shoe to do so; and 2) I'm tall
-- "oh we don't have this cool formal shoe in 46, we only have ridiculously looking things in that size, it's the same to you, right?"
But I don't collect them nor care about brands, I always buy the cheapest with the least flashy garbage around
A sneaker is more or less a basketball shoe and adjacent styles of athletic footwear.
Sneaker collecting started to become a thing in the 70s in the Hip Hop scene in NYC. Sneakers gave people the ability to easily customize their shoes to match a personal style, painting them, dying them etc. In the 80s you got the Nike's Air Jordans, which blew up the scene. You'd have a lot of shoe companies working with different celebs to drive the popularity of the Sneaker. It rapidly takes on the properties of a status symbol.
Now you have Sneakerheads, which is basically a consumer identity that is willing to spend a lot of time and money to ensure that they have a large collection of sneakers that many don't even wear. As with many things, I think there is something cool in there that was ruined by hyper consumptive capitalism.
People are using shoes as funko pops?
More or less, its got different idiosyncrasies but definitely a lot of overlap.
i bought my first pair of goodyear welted shoes. can get them resoled and can maintain them and theyll last a long time. downside is theyre leather but they will last the rest of my life with proper care.
I feel like we should avoid using the term
