As I said in another thread I think it would be neat if they made it like the third expedition where a majority of the expedition took place on one planet

Also please please please please be a world gen update

Rn we have hill, slightly more hill, and mountains stretching towards the heavens and their valleys going down to the gaping maw of hell

Still more fun, dynamic, and interesting planet terrain than starfield…

From what I’ve heard I bet

IMO the problem with NMS is being not dynamic and interesting but after a bit they look samey

Which I think its fine in terms of the animals cus they look unique and plants have enough variety but all the terrain just looks same with the exception of extreme hills but I don’t see those often

A cross-over between No Man's Sky and Light No Fire, where the expedition is on a single planet and at the end you get the starting date for LNF.

I remember when LNF was announced a while ago or at least when I head of it it sounded pretty cool. That would be an awesome final reward but knowing the Sean and the NMS it would probably be hidden in some sound graph or the first letter of each phase milestone

I’d be down for this!

I hope it's multiple biomes per planet, or some other much needed terrain generational/exploratory update. I miss the terrain gen from Pathfinder. If we could get that with the assets the game uses now, I'd be pleased. Better if this could be implemented to only affect unexplored planets, so nobodies bases would be ruined.

I'd like to see more different animals, but more biomes would be more than welcome. A mash-up of earth-like animals but more alien. Giraffes, elephants, giant ants, etc would be really cool.

I am never going to complain about a NMS update, but if it's planet generation overhaul, you had better take pictures of your favorite bases now.

[-] CaptManiac@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

You think it'll destroy the bases? Has this happened before?

[-] jeff_rose@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Yes, there have been broad and focused terrain generation changes in previous updates that have wiped out bases, especially if they're built in a cave or follow the existing terrain.

Quite often you just find out the hard way... You teleport in only to find yourself hovering in the sky or embedded in the ground. 😅

I am lucky that never happened to me.
