Lots of great changes have been added by our growing team of contributors as highlighted below. If you want to join the team come and say hello at the team discussion on Matrix

Please note that some lemmy servers are still under pressure, so you may see unexpected error messages.

Updates should appear on TestFlight and Play Store today.

v0.10.6 Release

iOS:

Android:

Hello everyone! We heard you about the the full height preview issues. Just some context we were trying to fix some scroll jittery issues on the card view feed and one approach was limiting the preview height however turns out that's a desired feature so we're going to re approach the problem so we can keep full height images in the preview.

Change log

  • Bring back full height preview in card view
  • Fixed iOS photo orientation for uploads
  • Added horizontal scroll to post title in navbar like RIF had
  • Accessibility enhancement for upvote/downvote
  • Small bug fixes

What's coming

  • Comment Style customizations
  • Push notifications - we're gonna balance this and take our time on our approach as we want to maintain privacy focused permissions.
  • Ultra compact view. Really we will be adding a 3rd view type so we will have card, list, and compact. The current compact view will become list

Thank you for how quickly you are reacting to user requests! Really exceptional work.

AHHH full hight images are back! - Thank you so much for bringing it back

[-] red@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

Phew, that was a close one! I almost went to touch grass, thanks for listening to your users and for the quick fix, devs!

[-] TeaHands@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I was annoyed by the image height fix, but not annoyed enough to complain at you about it because I've seen how hard you're working and there are more important things in life. That said, absolutely love that you listened to people on this! The full preview is a major selling point over some other apps, imo.

With notifications, if push will take a while (whatever, I don't like using those anyway) is there any chance we'll see some kind of indicator on the bell icon before then or will both of those be coming at the same time? It's a bit weird having to just keep checking randomly to see if there's anything there. Not a dealbreaker, I'm just curious about the plan :)

Big thanks as per usual!

The bell badge icon was in this release!

Nice 👍🏼

[-] macwood@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Thanks for your work on this app, really enjoying it so far. I know alot of people wanted full height image previews back, but I personally hate it. Is there a way to disable it?

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

We had a lot of discussion about this feature among the devs and full height definitely gets much more approval. If you can give some specific issues that the full height gives you, we can see if there’s a way to solve them.

[-] macwood@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I think full height images results in less density of posts on each screen and too much scrolling. It's annoying to scroll past extra long images that I wouldn't have clicked on in the first place. Any portrait pictures or phone screenshots take more than a full screen to get past when you factor the header and footer. It just feels like there needs to be a middle ground between compact view (can't see enough of an image) and full view (scrolling past huge images that take up your whole screen). Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, there’s still scope for improvement here. Once we’ve got some of the other issues with posts resolved we will be looking at this. In the meantime, keep working that thumb 😀

[-] Myrbolg@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

If I could have one ask: Left-hand mode. Move pictures to the left as well as buttons to interact with posts, or allow up/downvote by dragging the comment.

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Great point. I’ve seen this requested before so I’ll see if we have an issue and if not I’ll raise one.

[-] Speckle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Such a good app and it's getting better and better. I like how it handles having multiple accounts and really appreciate the notifications for replies/messages. Thank you!

[-] parrot@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Best app period

[-] kurdunkaroo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

After trying all that are available, I use this and Jeroba. Super good job here! I think I would useitt full time if comminities listings were not so large:

That and post multiple photos on one post. But I have yet to see that done anywhere

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

You can add multiple images into the body. Does the site allow multiple media links? I didn’t know that.

Great point on how we handle the length of some community descriptions. Needs improving for sure.

[-] DigitalPortkey@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

This is such a wonderful app. The progress is incredible, and the app is so enjoyable to use.

Thank you!

Definitely the best app I've used and loving it, thanks for your amazing work!

I don't know if I'm missing something but I can't see a way to increase the font size for comments?

[-] CrypticFawn@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

Thank you for the great app, started using it earlier today.

[-] Mikey_donuts@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Keep up the great work!

[-] Invisius@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Awesome app, thank you for all the features and smooth experience!

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 points 1 year ago

I love you. 🥳

[-] lauha@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago

I clearly made a tight choice when choosing a Lemmy client. Thank you for your effort! :)

[-] xavier666@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Would you look at that? More free stuff.

Your app looks the best and has great functionality among the few that I've tried. One comment compactness feature that I miss is ability to show upvote/downvote/reply row of a comment on tap, which is otherwise hidden. This compresses the comment list even further. I saw this feature on Joey.

I have some Google Play credits? Can I send them via some donate button inside the app? (Maybe in the next update)

[-] greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 year ago

Great work you guys!

[-] Blaze@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Thank you so much!

[-] voracread@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Would body text size adjustment be possible? We already have title size adjustment.

[-] alliestear@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago

Thank you for bringing back full height, for some reason on Android if a post was cut you'd be scrolling and hit a roadblock if an image decided to scroll in it's preview window. Should be much nicer on windows now too.

[-] fisco@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Posts I have made aren't being displayed on profile page... Comments are visible, but posts do not, although the counter for posts, shows the correct number..??

They are visible in other apps... (Show read posts is enabled)

Anyone else have the same issue??

Edit: Uninstalled & reinstalled the app, still not showing Posts I have made...🤷🏻‍♂️

[-] Lumun@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 year ago

I had this happen when I had selected to not show read posts, but sounds like you have already checked that. Perhaps the profile setting change has not quite gone into affect yet.

[-] fisco@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I haven't actually changed anything, I just checked to make sure the, show read posts was still enabled....I may well log out, & reinstall the app, to see if that has any effect... Thanks for your input👍🏼

[-] T4V0@lemmy.pt 2 points 1 year ago

I have the same issue, I made 6 posts but it only shows the last one.

[-] fisco@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I'm glad I'm not the only one, only from an affirmation point of view.... I made 4 posts, and don't see any, but do see all my comments...

[-] T4V0@lemmy.pt 2 points 1 year ago

I do see almost all my comments, except one.

[-] fisco@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Hopefully the Devs are monitoring this thread, & will find a fix for it..🤞🏻

Awesome app, I'm loving it!

2 things I've noticed:

  • there is no setting for the font size of the actual text in the body, right? Could you please make that adjustable as well?
  • with multiple accounts, the notification bell only shows the number of new messages when the correct account is selected. Could you make that information independent of the selected account?

Thank you so much for this app! I think it's the best right now out there 🫶

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

First point is on our radar.

Re notifications @zachatrocity@lemmy.world is working 24 hours a day on notifications right now so he may have a solution in the works.

[-] n8schicht@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

You guys are so awesome! Thank you very much! And please tell us how we can support you! Patron, PayPal, Bitcoin?

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That’s very kind of you but it’s not needed unless/until we start to incur some serious costs.
