Nintendo has paid tribute to the classic Nintendo World Championships with a new Switch game that draws inspiration from the short-burst challenges of the NES era. The 1990 championships started in March, touring nearly 30 North American cities and concluding in December, utilizing special competition cartridges featuring modified versions of Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris to determine the top players.

This rare cartridge is up for grabs.

I played this three times! There was a qualifier round, then a quarter final or something on stage, and I did well enough in that that I got to come back the next day and lose on stage! I peaked in 1990.

Guessing someone is hoping they'll get a boost with the release of the switch world championship.
