Canadian b-boy Phil Wizard (Philip Kim) took gold in the first Olympic men’s breaking tournament Saturday.

“I never thought I’d be here in my life,” the 27-year-old said, wiping away tears. He spent the last few sleepless nights “tossing and turning” because he was “stressed out of my mind.”

“I cried yesterday because I was so scared to do this, and, I’m just happy. I’m just happy,” he said.

Hometown favorite French b-boy Dany Dann (Danis Civil) won silver, and American b-boy Victor (Victor Montalvo) took the bronze after taking out Japanese b-boy Shigekix (Shigeyuki Nakarai). These Olympic medals may be the last for breaking, at least for some time — the dance form is not in the lineup of sports for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Articles about breakdancing are not as fun as just watching it: https://youtu.be/FAvZ4Rbk-JM?si=tgM8OJ58R7KsTkcu

I get a "this video is not available" message. Is this a country restriction thing or something?

Are you in Canada? I can watch it

No, I'm in Brazil and I just realized that this is Canada sub lol. It's weird that I can watch other videos from this channel though.

For anyone who is interested in watching the replay and wasn't aware, you can watch replays of all the events on CBC Gem!

I watched the final, it was impressive, but I have no technical knowledge about what was happening.

I remember in the 3rd round, Dany Dan made a mistake, the announcers commented on it, and I had no idea what the mistake was.

That's how I felt about a lot of olympic events, they're still entertaining and impressive as heck though!

The CBC really needs to work on its technical commentary.

I feel like it was much stronger in the early 2000s and 2010s but I also suspect that was because they broadcast fewer events. Now with streaming they need more commentators and the field isn't that deep in a lot of the summer sports.

I watched the B-Boys and B-Girls finals last night out of curiosity, and it was actually pretty cool and fun to watch. Still not sure how it's scored though, seems like they get a lot of points from judges for originality and not repeating moves.

It was so entertaining!! But the judging did feel biased at some points. I think they had their preferred Breakers which was evident when their preferred Breaker was clearly outshined but somehow still won the round.
