This is the most unfiltered article I've read from The Atlantic... by the time I finished the second paragraph I had to re-read the title to understand how I got here.

Edit: To be clear, this has been revealed as satire, its just so close to reality one could be forgiven for confusing the two.

I honestly can't tell if this opinion piece is genuine or just satire because of how much it jumps the fucking shark "I have Fissures in my Rectum that wouldn't be there if I was treated by an American doctor unlike my doctor Hussein from Mexico."

And I feel like the title of novelist is being used very loosely.

I went back and forth on this exact thought and thats why I shared it. I kept thinking "surely this is The Onion"?

It's a satire piece meant to highlight the absurdity of conservative positions despite how they are presented matter-of-fact in the mainstream. Would love a non paywalled linked to read it all.

There is an archive.org link in one of the comments.

Also I'm not sure how but the Nextcloud News app bypasses The Atlantics paywall via the RSS feed.. so i constantly forget its paywalled. ☠️

Edit: bringing the link to you: https://archive.is/XdvbR

The first line is "I’m a lifelong registered Republican who has voted for Donald J. Trump in the past five presidential elections."

Man, I will be amazed if this is in fact a really well played troll that got the media to take him seriously and interview him for an article and he just stayed in character...

Then again, after all the things we've seen from MAGA, I can still see this being serious.

I thought this was a fairly obvious piece of satire. Got a giggle out of me, for sure.

I like the part where he voted for Trump five times.
