I used to have a FP2 and currently have an FP3.
They're basically mid-market phones spec-wise, but at a higher price point. I'm personally happy with that, but fair warning: it doesn't perform like other phones at the same price point!

I think I'd be buying used on ebay..
they say that in the official site, it isn't a highend phone
Personally I don't need crazy specs, other than some decent longevity and durability. The most demanding thing I do is run offline maps. I'll have to look into them but so far it sounds like a good fit for me
I was so disapointed in Fairphone when the mic broke on my FP2. They no longer sell spare parts, so the whole point of buying a FP was just a waste. I bought it just a few months before the announcement of the FP3, so they really ended support waaay too early. They referred to the forums to check if someone hade a spare bottom module with working mic, and there were several people looking for one. I will not buy a FP again.
I’ve wanted them to come here for a while, but the US hasn’t adopted android phones nearly as much as Europe. I used android for some time but eventually switched to iPhone.
There are dozens of us android users in the US, dozens!
From the stats I can find, it's pretty close to a 50/50 split in the US for IOS/Android; IOS slightly ahead.
Yeah it’s not necessarily dominant, but I don’t think iOS is anywhere close to 50% in Europe. Albeit I’m too lazy to actually look it up or get an actual source, that’s just loosely based on my personal experience.
I just purchased a new phone and I'm kicking myself now. I've wanted to support Fairphone for a while, but I just can't justify another phone purchase.
Not buying one is more sustainable anyway :D and when you do need a new one, you'll know about fairphone and probably have even better options than you do now!
That's such a wholesome way to look at it. 😊
I'm waiting for the next one. My current phone is starting to get old, but the lack of an oled on the current fair phone keeps me from switching
Lack of a jack is keeping me from this one. Hoping the 5 rectifies it.
Hopefully the next model will work with more than just T Mobile.
I'll be curious to see how well this does.
I just put /e/ on my Gen 1 Pixel and the camera quality was not good. I need to try the google camera apk and see if that helps, but that was quite the downer for me. Kind of the only things I care about are battery life and photo quality.
Likewise. This is what kept me from older models, but I'd happily take a Fairphone if there was a model with a good camera out when I'm looking for a phone. I think I can even ger around a missing headphone jack, but pictures is what, it turns out, I use a phone for the most besides the usual messages and web searches and occasional music related stuff.
well, i guess i can import them easily here to south america :D
It'll only take off if it's competitively priced and supports every carrier. Until then I don't think it'll sell well. But I'll definitely look into it next time I have to get a new phone.
I just looked aroundon their site a bit, and it looks like they are pretty competitively priced by selling upgrades to next gen for 70 dollars (fairphone 3 to 4 core or something)
Yeah only supports T-mobile for now, which kinda sucks because I do my damnedest to stay out of the city where T-mobile seems most focused.
The space to discuss Solarpunk itself and Solarpunk related stuff that doesn't fit elsewhere.
