Ohio Senator and Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance is standing by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson amid widespread outrage over a recent interview in which Carlson and his guest, Darryl Cooper, whitewashed the actions of Adolf Hitler as well as the Holocaust.

In the interview, Carlson said he was “highly distressed by the uses to which the myths about World War Two have been put in the context of modern foreign policy — particularly the war in Ukraine.”

“You know, Churchill’s the good guy, Neville Chamberlain’s the bad guy. You know, it’s just, it’s too pat, it’s too, obviously, quite banal. But it also has justified, like, the killing of millions of people since the end of the Second World War. And so I do think it’s fair to ask like ‘What really was going on?’ So, for example, I’m American, I’m not English, so I don’t have any weird motive in asking this, but how would you assess Winston Churchill?” he asked.

If you ask a historian “How would you assess Winston Churchill?” and they criticize the concept of fighting fascism and not, like, the Bengal famine, strategic decisions, imperialism, drinking up all the gin, etc. then maybe you aren’t talking to an actual historian.

who has defended his position online by insisting that Hitler sought peace and “an acceptable solution to the Jewish problem”

His final solution, perhaps?

Straight from the horses mouth. He thinks genocide is an acceptable solution to "the Jewish problem".

Oh, yeah, I mean Hitler tried politely asking all us Jews and lgbtqs and Roma and political dissidents if we would, ya know, kill ourselves, and we were like, “nein,” and that was super inconvenient. You know how Germans are about efficiency.

A Putin-loving traitor and a socially-awkward couch-fucker. Truly a meeting of great minds.

I know the Trump train is going full steam ahead and Vance is just along for the ride. And I know who's driving the train. But is there nobody pulling Vance aside and telling him that every once in a while he needs to learn to shut the fuck up?

It's one thing for Trump to say it himself. He's an incoherent moron who can't put together a coherent thought, and can be written off like a homeless person in the park preaching to the pigeons. But JD Vance is an articulate, educated individual. But IMO, the fact that he's actually coherent just makes it worse when he says it because that means actual, significant thought has been put into it, which also means coherent thought has been put into implementing it.

Just think of how much more dangerous Trump would be if he were actually a coherent, functioning person. That's JD Vance.

No, there's no one like that because they figure they've shifted the window so much that they won't lose actual committed voters even if they start, say, spouting Neonazi talking points.

JD! No, you only do that in the privacy of the Republicans headquarters.

Considering they already openly support Putin, is it really that far to sympathize with Hitler and Nazism too?
I mean isn't the Nazism part pretty obvious by now.
I just wonder how it happened that USA fell so deep that it became alright among half the population to be a Nazi and a traitor?
Although FOX news has been extreme for years, I'm still a bit surprised they've became THAT extreme! And so far removed from traditional American values of democracy.
