Sure do.

I love the idea behind a decentralized discussion-world!

I'm trying to ser up my own Lemmy, but damn, it is hard sweating!

[-] ChrisLicht@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Pretty much. I'll def never log in again.

[-] Feugnis@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I never really used Reddit. I would scroll through it if I was really bored and occasionally post but never that much. I stopped because of the API just because it was really easy to stop. It could only be good for me to remove that one other thing that tricks my mind into doom scrolling. So will I be using Lenny? It would probably be good for me to not and go do more productive things. But I feel like if I have free time, supporting this is definitely good, I really like the goal and don't want it to die.

I have replaced it as my active site,

So there is still stuff that's more active on reddit, like football news, but I am now just a lurker there I don't contribute I just read if there is an update then if it's relevant I post it from there to Lemmy, so we can start building a community here.

[-] relevantnanana@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Yup, only going to reddit for some niche communities that aren't here. This is my main platform now.

I'm about a week clean now, content has been really good

Yes, but I also use Squiggy too

[-] skepticalifornia@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

Yes, I am now 90% on Lemmy - the new Memmy app for my iPad is close to Apollo-quality and Liftoff on my Android phone (S21) is “almost” as good as Sync for Reddit was.

For Reddit, I am using RSS feeds only to browse for any posts that interest me - I am trying to not give them traffic if at all possible.

The content on Lemmy is getting better every day!

I gave Lemmy a shot after the API debacle on reddit. First week was bumpy with lots of timeouts and servers that weren't able to handle all the new users from reddit.

It quickly improved. So much so that I went ahead and deleted my reddit account.

[-] Lemjukes@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Yep, left it cold turkey when the protests started as 99.95% of my browsing was done through Apollo.

[-] ShittyKopper@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Not by itself, no.

My current replacements for reddit are:

  1. A kbin account for serious-posting
  2. This Lemmy account for the shitposting (and for communities on lemmy.ml which blanket bans all kbin instances)
  3. Tildes.net for the extra-serious-posting
  4. (Eventually) an RSS reader
  5. Libreddit and a redirector extension for search results

I personally prefer to keep my shitposting from my serious-posting and I also wanted to see what kbin was like, so it kinda worked out well enough (aside from .ml)

I havent deleted my reddit account, but Im using reddit a lot less now

[-] thesalamander@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, deleted RIF early and just pretend it doesn't exist. I'll probably use it if a useful answer pops up on Google, but not for scrolling.

Lemmy and Threads will have to fill the gap for now, but if they grow I don't see a problem at all.

[-] Carter@feddit.uk 2 points 1 year ago

Infinity is still working at the moment but today I removed it from my home screen and replaced with a Lemmy app. There isn't a community replacement for every subreddit I follow just yet but hopefully Lemmy and other Fediverse services will continue to grow.

Please dont tell anyone how I live

[-] general_kitten@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

with my 3rd party app of choise diem my reddit usage so no more reddit for me

[-] arthur@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

In the quest for endless growth all publicly traded companies eventually have to cut costs, jack up prices, or both. The investors expect a return on their investment.

Lemmy doesn't have that debt.

[-] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Sucks for videos and gifs though. I don't want to click a blind link to see a gif or video

[-] Peeko@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

If reddit kills my patched third party app then I'm done using it on mobile, and if they kill old.reddit then I'm done using it on desktop. I'd switch to Lemmy or kbin full time but the content variety is VERY low compared to reddit still, especially for more niche topics like specific games or hobbies.

[-] S3mI@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I haven’t been on Reddit since Apollo went dark. I’m done with it except for a couple specific communities until similar ones are available here.

[-] Popinguj@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I registered to try it out. Looks nice so far. Hopefully more users switch and start filling this place with content.

[-] Kempeth@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

To about 90% I have. Some communities still simply don't exist or are essentially dead, so for the times where I need something really specific or just a general content fix I still wander over. But it's been a fraction of the time I spent there previously.
