Duodi 12 Nivôse an 233 de la Révolution, jour de l'Argile

Its duodi today, and we are still in the glorious year 233 of the Revolution. No reasons to make resolutions, or having a hang-over (which kind of slacker would drink a primidi evening in the first place?).

Anyways, I'm officially declaring this lemmy open for 2025, and wish you all a happy new year.

PS: I'll post the BVWSC thread once you have all sobered up.

Wednesday, January 01, 2025: New Year's Day Shave

  • Brush: Omega - 10048 boar
  • Razor: GEM - MMOC (first gen, 1930-1932)
  • Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (4)
  • Lather: Zingari Man - The Master
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Master Recovery Splash
  • Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Roam Two EdT

Happy New Year everyone!

Last night, I found a good deal on eBay for a GEM Micromatic Flying Wing razor. In January, I plan to work on my SE shaving technique, starting today with the MMOC.

Ended the shave with the 2024 scent of the year. Here's to a great 2025!

🍳 Created with Neovim & sotd.nvim 🍳

01.01.2025 - A new year begins

  • Brush: AP Shave Co. black & clear handle w/ 30 mm Tuxedo Fan knot
  • Razor: RazoRock Cyber Medium
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Lather: Wickham Soaps - Magnum
  • Post-Shave: OAM witch hazel cucumber toner; Alterra men natural ASB

-> 1 pass on the head and neck; a bit rough shave, one weeper on the scalp and a general harsh feeling from the new blade.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone arrived safely in 2025.

Since I am affected by a bit of a cold, I just went for a quick shave with comfortable scents. However, the BIC blades aren't as sharp as I remember - a noticeable downgrade in comparison to a fresh RPL. The Wickham soap however was really nice: a timeless cologne fragrance in tribute to Thomas Magnum/Tom Selleck with a rather good amount of cushion from the lather.

Let's see what this year will bring us. Tomorrow and Friday it's early shifts for me. Nursing school can't come fast enough...

January 2, 2025

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers "Coffee & Cream" with DG B1
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Germany) (6)
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Roam Two - Soap
  • Post Shave: Pinaud - Clubman Musk - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

Almost forgot to post today. Good shave. Will probably switch the blade out tomorrow. This brush is fun to have, and it works pretty well and feels ok, but it's nothing special. I've used B2 and I think maybe a B6? Or was it a B5? It was sort of a mystery. Either way, I just see them as badger knots and nothing really that special unless it happens to meet your specific preferences. This opinion has saved me a lot of money!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has a great 2025!
