Entirely expected, sadly. This was just a cheap political stunt from Biden and the DNC with the Cuban people as no more than political tools. There was no chance of any other outcome.

Of course he did. He did the same shit last time; he undid as much of what Obama did as physically possible as quickly as possible, simply because Obama did it. Trump's a petty, narcissistic old shithead and we're all screwed.

Why did biden wait until the last minute to do this?

The US is the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the history of the planet. Cuba meanwhile is a major contributer to antiterrorism, especially against capitalist fascism.

Let's be real. For Biden it was nothing more than thumbing his nose at Trump, because he knew that Trump would act like a 13-year-old and try to reverse everything his predecessor did.

My head canon is that it was simple reverse psychology. Biden really wanted to keep Cuba on the list, but also wanted to score some easy political points on the way out, so he made a show of how he was de-listing them, knowing Trump would undo it a week later because Trump is an immature crybaby bitch.

Damn. Biden should have cancelled more EV and clean energy projects and funneled money to the oil companies in his last week.

[-] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 36 points 3 months ago

Biden could've done it day one and bought them 4 years of not dealing with that at least.

Yeah, but establishment democrats only care about appearances.

And it works, consider how many useful idiots vote for them in primaries.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 18 points 3 months ago

Did we not know this as soon as the ~~monied elite~~ press announced it?

[-] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 3 months ago

How long were they even off the list? Maybe a week? Fuck Biden and this performative bullshit.

Oh look, joe biden was just posturing the entire time.

That's why he waited until the very last minute to do it.

Fuck establishment democrats, and fuck everyone who votes for them.

Do you know any Cubans in the US? Usually they're rich capitalists that hate Cuba. They left for a reason.

[-] samus12345@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago

Yeah, good point!

[-] godlessworm@hexbear.net 18 points 3 months ago

the cubans who voted trump are happy with this. they ran away from their country and sided with the US, the country which put cuba in such dire conditions to begin with. theyre cowards and traitors to the people of their country. they agree that cuba is a state sponsor of terrorism because the cuban state took their grandpa’s slaves away

Biden removed Cuba after losing the elections for a reason. This is an America problem, not a Trump problem
