That's it, that's enough. The 20% of Netflix content worth watching can easily be found elsewhere, matey.

Is there one of these but usenet instead?

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 26 points 1 week ago

A "price update".

I got a price update coming for them. It's fucking zero.

I'd say I'd still the seven seas for it, but I can't think of any of their stuff I'd actually bother to nick...

They have some solid CW content like the Addams family on and similar. It's not good but it scratches an itch for 20-somethings being catty at each other.

I watched one episode of Wednesday and can only assume that whoever wrote it had never seen The Addams Family before. Genuinely awful. Felt like some Harry Potter knockoff they'd inexplicably turned into something the rights were cheap for...

[-] throwback3090@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 week ago

Exactly, it's a CW show :)

I've never seen the original, though.

Agree with your last sentence; I don’t think anything they have on offer at the moment is even worth pirating - at least until the final season of Stranger Things is released!

Streamio with the torrentio addon for the win.

Glad i could help! It's been a godsend since someone here told me about it too

Pc phone and tablet works great. I've heard mention of a smart tv version but i don't have experience with that

[-] x00z@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Be sure to leave it open for a while so you can seed some.

Stremio on LG TV with webOS works pretty well. Definitely worth a shot.

[-] LoganNineFingers@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Dumb question... But what's the rest of it?

Is it .io or?

I assume these are for torrents but I can't find them.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

No worries. Here's a FAQ for it:

Yea we canceled Netflix starting March 1st. At this point it's a bait and switch. We signed up at less than 10$ , now it's more than double. Trump announced tarrifs against Canada, 2days later we got notice from Netflix that prices are gong up 25%>>lol fuck off no.

You've now given up

because they've let you down

and they've run around and deserted you

Since they've made you cry

now you're gonna say goodbye

because they've told a lie that hurt you

I used to pirate movies like the dirty pirate that I was. Now I'm training my own personal LLM for educational purpose, just like Zuck.

I have nearly the same thread with disney+. Price hiked from 89 to 139/year. I like it but not that much.

I jumped ship (lol) a year ago. Synology NAS w/ 16TB of space, Jellyfin, and Proton. Set up my family with Jellyfin on their Roku TV's. I was paying for Prime & D+. My brother provided Netflix. Lost that first. Now we're all watching what we want, when we want, and I gladly cover the cost for everyone.

We're not much for live sports, so no loss to speak of

Netflix can go suck a fuck!!

[-] YarHarSuperstar@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

How exactly does one "suck a fuck"?

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

That's for them to figure out.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

Highly recommend a year long subscription to proton VPN and the app streamio. I use real debris and torrentio with it. The experience is better than you could ever buy with streaming services.

[-] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The big issue with Streamio is that it relies on torrents but doesn’t actually seed anything. It simply uses the torrent to cache the content, and then deletes it after you watch. Encouraging everyone to use streamio is a slow march towards killing it, because if everyone uses it nobody can.

Maybe something like Plex or Jellyfin instead. It will require a little more up-front setup, but it allows you to have a server (or just your home PC) that works as a media host. And since you’re hosting the content, you can actually seed your torrents.

Jellyfin if you like FOSS, or Plex if you need to be able to walk your mother-in-law through the setup for her TV. Jellyfin is great as far as FOSS goes, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Plex’s ease of setup.

Good. I hope this makes everyone more politically thoughtful and active

[-] Zaderade@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I hope so too. The fate of the free world depends on it, but it's not looking very good.

Enshittification

What is enshittification?

The phenomenon of online platforms gradually degrading the quality of their services, often by promoting advertisements and sponsored content, in order to increase profits. (Cory Doctorow, 2022, extracted from Wikitionary) source

The lifecycle of Big Internet

We discuss how predatory big tech platforms live and die by luring people in and then decaying for profit.

Embrace, extend and extinguish

We also discuss how naturally open technologies like the Fediverse can be susceptible to corporate takeovers, rugpulls and subsequent enshittification.
