I mean at this point, Trump’s preferred end state is basically China except stupid and unpredictable.
They see such an obvious opportunity for increasing their soft power that they’re saying things here that might actually slow down a move towards a world where taking Taiwan by force is acceptable.
These guys operate on such a long horizon that they can afford to keep cajoling Taiwan for decades. In fact they might just let neoliberalism hollow out Taiwan while standards of living in China rise, till the point when the majority opinion turns positive towards PRC. It may or may not happen but I think it's one likely scenario.
Letting the west sit in the corner and sniff glue for a couple of decades might do it anyway. We look fucking stupid.
Chinas long term strategy really does seem to be just to keep calm and carry on while the rest of us fuck ourselves up repeatedly.

To be honest right now China has more legs than the US. The US has been on the wrong side of history for way too long.

I don't condone the dude or what he's done at all. The guys a war criminal several times over. But you gotta hand it to the guy, he took control of the most powerful nation the world has ever known (it's pretty clear who's pulling the oompa-lumpas strings) without firing a shot. Eh, that's kinda feeding into the propaganda surrounding him. In reality the Russian Federation is just run by the people who scammed the most citizens from their ownership rights after the privatization of the Soviet state. Since the fall of the Soviet state, it's basically been pretending to be a world power by bullying smaller nations with the military it inherited.

Again, I think this is exactly what they want you to think. I just think trump wants what Putin has, supreme power to whatever he wants, and a state where his cronies can do whatever they want so long as they are loyal. American oligarchs have been envious of Russian oligarchs for some time now.
