How do you feel the unique political structure of the city-states in ancient Sumer influenced their relationships with one another?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 14 points 6 days ago

There isn't a single group that is going to get government right on the first try especially if you're going the route of a theocracy where religion is at the forefront of everything.

At the time I imagine everything made sense given limited technology and lacking a lot of the history knowledge we have today (we don't use it but we still technically know it).

Overall the only thing I can really add to the conversation in terms of the relationships between them is: while a city-state structure is often very good for a peoples government since smaller groups to manage means you can be more tuned to the needs of the people... It also means you're more likely to fracture between each of the city states themselves without some form of overarching governmental structure.

We are seeing that even now in the US where the policies of some states are RADICALLY different causing a huge rift in the people and beliefs of those in the US... And the US has an overarching governmental structure (arguably rn). I can't imagine it would have been any less intensive with a smaller population and less oversight.

Do you ever pee in the back yard like a dog? Or has your fame made this luxury impossible?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 11 points 6 days ago

I used to as a kid. I currently live in the city though so there isn't much of a back yard and even if it was larger, like you said... Privacy is a concern.

[-] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 days ago

Like how famous? And more importantly, with what demographic?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 12 points 6 days ago

I would definitely be put into the category of "niche internet micro celebrity".

On YouTube videos I've made have grossed multiple millions of views combined and my name is well-ish known in the competitive scene of Team Fortress 2 due to my work with the competitive league RGL.

Outside of online spaces I used to also be well known locally due to my appearances at a lot of open mics but I've since stopped going simply due to the time it took to manage that many events alongside 2 relationships.

you’re the WWE wrestler Maven, aren’t you?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago

I changed my mind. This is a question you cannot ask me

I have this pain on my left side when I eat red meat? Why is that?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago

Where on your left side? The entire half of your body or moreso the leftish part of your abdomen (as an example of a specific)

If you were given a month to eat an entire wooden door using only hand-tools. How would you go about it?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 days ago

What do you classify as a hand tool?

What is the longest length of rope you've ever personally held? Was it tied to anything?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 days ago

I used to belay at a rock climbing wall. No idea how long the rope was but I do know that it was attached to me and the person climbing.

[-] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 8 points 6 days ago

How does it feel to imagine that you're famous?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 11 points 6 days ago

My imagination is actually kinda terrible. At most I can see vague flashes of visuals but there's never any color and it's pretty much just blobs...

Thankfully there's no imagination necessary to add (famous) to your name online.

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 days ago

So, when will the sex tape drop?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago

It already has. It's just that nobody knows it's me in the video.

Maven (famous)

[-] actionjbone@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 days ago

How many of your own eyes is it best to gouge out?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 10 points 6 days ago

Personally I'm a fan of gouging out none of my eyes though I could see an argument for one.

[-] actionjbone@sh.itjust.works 12 points 6 days ago

Come to think of it, you can probably see the argument because your eyes aren't gouged out.

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago

One of the many benefits of not gouging your own eyes out tbh

[-] jared@mander.xyz 7 points 6 days ago

Fame sounds like a hellish thing to put a human through, is it everything you ever wanted?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 20 points 6 days ago

I wouldn't say it's everything I ever wanted. It definitely has some ups and some downs.

As an example of a down: the most annoying thing about being famous is having to tell everyone how famous you are. I feel like I have to bring it up at the start of every conversation or else nobody would even know.

[-] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 5 points 6 days ago

Do you also use arch and are you a vegan?

Why wasn't I born in the right body?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago

Without your existence the best we would have is cis people... Nobody wants that...

Thank you for your sacrifice in service of a great cause

[-] over_clox@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

Which do you use first, dental floss or toothpicks?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago

Generally toothpicks. Dental floss kinda hurts my fingers when I do the whole setup and it feels more wasteful somehow.

Are you at all related to Maven (infamous)?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago

No... Which is unfortunate since they have multiple really big games that were made about them.

[-] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 4 points 6 days ago

Do you know any other famous people?

[-] Maven@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago

Depends on your definition of famous but yes. Not only do I know when but I have worked with and on videos/projects staring other people that have had a LOT of eyes on them.

[-] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 3 points 6 days ago

Well add me to that list, I'm relatively famous too. How many times have people recognized you out of the blue?

Why is it that no one asks important questions anymore?

And the more important question.... What's your favourite dinosaur 🦕?
