I’m not super upset by legal acquisition if it’s not available here.

Thanks! It’s on my list now. I’m actually excited that it’s foreign media but not anime. (Anime is fine, but sometimes you don’t want the sameness)

I keep moving the goalposts when you’ve had one comment from me directly? Grow up. That’s not how that works. I didn’t move goalposts, because no goalposts were set in the first place, so take your bullshit anti-argument elsewhere.

Dude just because there is ai video creation doesn’t mean it’s in any way realistic or even remotely as real as hallucinating. Extra hands and limbs and inhuman proportions and shit? Sure they are fixing that but it’s not “a few months off” for real VR.

Dude I wish. Ai is a super far cry from anything even remotely realistic.

I’m so ready for VR to be actually as advertised, but it’s a lot more than a few months out.

As not a nurse, I would think you’d just unplug the alarm machines first.

Tho I have been in enough hospital/clinic rooms to know y’all plug shit in wherever the hell, because there are outlets everywhere. I want my house to be like that.

And I have seen the Monty Python meaning of life so I know there are a lot of beeping things to plug in that may have alarms. You know, to make sure they are being used.

Scientific discovery is very rarely “eureka!” And very often “hmm, that’s weird…”

But also, can we talk about a high school with an observatory? Like hearing about some of the programs and equipment modern schools have (robotics and genetics labs/clubs, for example) makes me really really regret that I grew up rural in the 90s. We didn’t get shit beyond a drivers ed “simulator” from the 70s, and I feel like I missed out on early exposure to so many things I’d have excelled at. Instead, I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up.

Good for those students! That’s something that’s going to stick with them, and I hope it pushes them toward careers in space science!

That’s a good idea, thanks :)

That’s something I’ve thought about, as well as making a companion cooking series (recipes to use what you grow sort of thing), or hands-on/ongoing troubleshooting..

I just barely have the energy to make and test the thing in the first place, after years of planning out how to optimize it and testing lesser variations (which means if I get the last iteration balanced, it will work for anyone with minimal input. I’m super irresponsible. I do have a few more responsible testers lined up, however. For reproducibility.) and I definitely don’t know where to go for help that won’t screw me over for a fee I can’t afford 😅

You are probably correct in that racketeering would need to be reigned in, but I don’t really think it’s all that impactful over housing and medical.

We already have what you are using as a worst case, it’s just fully legal and uncontrolled. Rent and medical has been inflating for years for no reason. Because the proletariat can handle it (even though we can’t).

“They design for it” is what this can be summed up with.

The us designs for cars. We have laws for cars. We don’t build areas for humans, they don’t profit anyone. If you aren’t in a 1-ton death machine, you are asking to die.

https://linuxstans.com/linux-phone/

“Although debatable, most of these Linux phones can’t be used as a daily driver and they can’t really replace your current daily driver. They do lack a lot of features and apps you’d need. They’re meant for developers and enthusiasts”

That is very true, and I have actually bought used before but it was a miserable experience because it wasn’t listed as carrier-locked (it was, however, a long time ago, well before carrier unlock was required/universal unlock was commonly available).

Perhaps I’ll look into getting a used phone while I have a working one and play with it a bit, if I can find one for a reasonable price, as long as they don’t have the same replacement lockout apple has. I’ve been using GSM carriers exclusively so I can bring my device if I ever (need to or can) emigrate, so probably a decent market of devices available.

Not a stupid question and thanks for reminding me that’s an option. I tend to distrust used/refurbished tech -replaced for a reason sort of thing, especially when warranty replacements of major models tend to be refurbished and have their own problems.. but I probably shouldn’t assume others treat their tech the way I do - my forever precious. Like cars, I run them until they die, and someday I’ll make a fucking sculpture with all the broken old phones I have. I recently found my first semi-smart phone, which I had when I was… 22-24, I think? The Motorola rival A455 in purple. Fuck was technology pretty!

The first page I found was the main fediverse page, then I found mastodon (I’m not a Twitter user, so it wasn’t where I landed). Looks like y’all have some decent iOS apps, at least, and this Reddit implosion and the whole meta wanting to use the app hub thing (don’t know what that is but read about it) should bring a lot more traffic to your side of things as well! Hopefully that’s a good thing for everyone! And not just like bots..
