You can still get the disc drive for it though. I mean, it is fucked up its sold separately but it isn't just no disc drive availability at all.

This is a picture about the IRS, not the CRA. Also parallel construciton is a US law to fuck over its citizens, I'm not sure what the equivalent of Canada's version is. However it says that any info obtained by any regulatory body can be shared with law enforcement of any kind and they don't have to tell you that's how they obtained the information.

I did hardwire it to the modem and it's been awesome once I figured out what I was doing lol thank you so much for all of your help! Someone else mentioned changing the DNS settings is important for privacy, would you recommend to edit the Netmask and Gateway as well (I'm just using the same ones the ISP gave me in DHCP) or is changing the DNS enough?

Would using something like a Glinet Beryl travel router increase privacy in this scenario if you just used WiFi repeater mode and only connected to that router or would your cable provided router still be able to decrypt all of your traffic due to being unable to change their DNS settings? To be honest I know very little about networking I just want to increase my privacy to the fullest extent possible

So you just have to buy an openWRT router and it would stop it automatically or is this something you would have to be knowledgeable about how it looks in a system log to block it? Also, do you have to have some sort of custom modem as well or just the router being openwrt is enough?

Problem is, they would take guns away from us too as a compromise. Then they'd give the cops their guns back.

"Man killed people for a living for years so we gave him a pistol and let him corral the civilians around!" Making fun of it and shaming this dumbass system is the only hope of it ever changing

Oh damn this is a good one!

They will actually shoot you here though especially if things got half as serious as they did in France about the pensions (which was awesome and I wish something similar would happen in the US to be honest).
