I've never had the problem of not being understood.

You are either a uniquely spectacular communicator or a liar. It's not for me to say which. Regardless that's not the point. If you use the soft g sound and are not understood then, by your own explanation you are saying it wrong. That's something you need to contend with.

And regardless of how long the time period was

So no time requirement on archaic then?

there was a time when one guy spoke aloud the word when he invented it.

As is true of every word and yet I'm sure there are words you say differently than the first person. I'll bet you don't say the name of the element with the atomic number 13 the same way the man who discovered it does. Not to mention who knows how many words England took from France, mangled, and then got adjusted again in America. Who is the correct first person there, or does the first person only matter with this specific issue?

You can use the new pronunciation

I will as well many others.

as I have for 30+ years,

Me too! Still doesn't make yours right and mine wrong no matter how hard you try to deride it as "new" when it's barely newer than the format.

and I will continue to do so

I can't stop you. I can think you ridiculous for doing so but my suspicion that this would be the only reason I would think that of you diminishes with each response you send.

both are acceptable

Perhaps, but one seems to be falling out of favor. Just like a double space after a period or writing out words greater than ten but less than one hundred.

I could call it a moving picture and not be wrong, doesn't mean people wouldn't think me weird for doing so. I would have to deal with that the way you need to deal with what your choices cause people to think of you.

If you don't like it, that's a you problem.

Sure, but it won't stop me from making my own conclusions just like any other thing. The same is true for all of humanity to varying degrees.

Hell, I look at a 20 year old human as immature and I'm just in my thirties!

Biological maturity does not equal getting the life experience of an adult. Not enough life experience means more naive and easier to manipulate, even if the older being doesn't want to.

That's some shit and you should judge people by their character instead of their age. I've known people in their fifties and sixties who were less mature than other people I've known in their twenties, and we're not dealing with developmental issues here.

Some people have gone through way too much shit by the time they hit twenty and have moved well past being "naive and easy to manipulate". I say this having been one and married another.

Maybe the real "immature kid" is the one making ageist judgements on people who really aren't that much younger than they are.

I've got three monitors and a few other PCs that are all interconnected so I can mouse off one on to another.

I just turn my chair

Would love to emigrate to Europe myself. Familial and social reasons make that difficult. A lack of funds make it unfeasible. So for the foreseeable future I've gotta deal with the crap I've got.

I've been trying to be increasingly clear throughout the day. It looks like it's not landing regardless so let me go out of the way to do the best I can.

Racism, fascism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ablism, and the other bullshit that somehow missed the list is all unacceptable.

Liberalism is a step on the path for those coming from somewhere like conservatism, but not a stopping place.

Misunderstanding, at least in part from me, is probably a big part of why this has all gone on so long. I'm sure I agree with most people here far more than I disagree with them.

Where did I say to pretend that everything is hunky dory? Where have I callously disregarded human lives?

I neither can nor have the energy to try and make you do anything different than you will. But until it comes to violent revolution you're not going to change many minds with aggression.

Except it's less likely to be donation based and more likely to be fee based.

The fact that you're aware of any kind of ad blocking for Netscape reinforces my position that blocking was a leader in the arms race

Chrome was released in 2008. It didn't take a market share right away. While a browser wasn't as big a part of daily life for a lot of people it was still a big part for a lot of people even outside of work.

On the other hand Windows had a much bigger market share for most of the time IE was the leading browser. It not being cross platform wasn't terribly relevant.

IE had a stranglehold on the internet. Even after chrome took over there were still a lot of sites that were only optimized/usable on IE. It is easily guilty of pretty much everything that is a modern complaint about chrome. You just didn't use it on a phone, but you also didn't have a handful of apps in place of a browser for various web sites/services.
