Genocide. Also ironically many countries are calling the people taking a stand against their massacre "terrorists".

Yeah with CGNAT becoming way more common it actually seems kind of unreasonable.

How do they block it exactly? Do they block it the way most public Wifi does, or do they go an extra step and attempt to block trackers? If it's the former it's possible to bypass it, but it will limit how fast or good the torrenting experience will be.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 days ago

Also MAC address spoofing. Use it when using public connections, makes it so they can't track your device easily or ban the device from the networks. It should go without saying to use this but people don't talk about this, and I think certain people would rather people not know about it at all.

Except a lot of people are being kept in the dark about the shortcomings of piefed, it's trendy and cool because it's ""new"" and different than lemmy. Which is why a lot of people join it, including people who would be very against karma requirements being used as a weapon like on Reddit.

That's what's scary, a lot of people joining piefed being misled under false pretenses or just not being told upfront what they're getting gives the platform more power. It makes piefed seem more legitimate. And more piefed instances popping up means those Karma requirements can ultimately effect Lemmy users too. I've seen a couple people point it out the score of Lemmy users on piefed already.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

Actually I think he's trying to use it as an appeal to hypocrisy also known as Tu quoque. And he's using it to try and argue we don't get to criticize him because Lemmy does it too. Except it doesn't work like that, because Tu quoque is a logical fallacy.

Also Lemmy's devs removed the API to get user scores because they feared it would be used to enforce Karma on Lemmy, and they were right to do that. It still kind of is but it would be way worse if they made it easier. You know, like piefed does.

Yeah I saw Goat's comment there, that was really shitty. I really hope that a majority of Lemmy doesn't insist on moving to piefed because even though Rimu and his cronies argue the feature can be turned off, it doesn't really matter because having a karma system at all means it can be used to restrict people wherever it is enabled.

And it is enabled by default and therefore will be enabled on the majority of piefed instances out there.

Shows how low Feddit's standards are when it comes to professionalism of their Staff.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago

How was he not banned from here much sooner?

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago

I wouldn't have been as inclined to agree before today because they've been less tolerant of bad shit in the past but after sending them the comment and having them reject my report of something so objectively bad faith I'm inclined to agree. It really does feel like they are enabling goat's atrocious behavior.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 6 days ago

Let me be clear, I never said the jews. I say Israel because I mean Israel. Israel is the problem. Specifically their military and administration who are still caying out violence towards Palestinians. Anyone claiming I said Jews was lying to trying to smear me or both.

Actually this whole situation feels a lot like this the more and more I think of it. Misdirection in the form of antisemitic ""allegations"" or acusations is very common when Zionism is called out. It's not surprising people will dig for anything including things not intended or even there at all.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 6 days ago

Should note. I am aware I spent way WAY too much time engaging with a Zionist troll and ultimately was and did only feed them, and ultimately a few others as well (one of them was motivated to create an account trying to impersonate me and make people think I'm antisemitic). And also stress me out and possibly cause problems for us. And for that I must apologize, not for anything I said I don't think I said anything wrong (if you think I did please say) but for ultimately stirring things up and creating a shitstorm.

So for context, a certain Zionist Feddit admin complained earlier about being banned from lemmy.ml and they recently got banned from here for the same thing. But they were not banned from sh.itjust.works and made a post complaining in !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works, I'm not linking that directly they've already accused me of brigading their community.

Anyway I argued with them for a while and continued to shoot down their deflections and justifications (way longer than anyone should argue with any Zionist troll) and goat decides to respond to me accusing me of using antisemitic symbols, the triple parentheses. Now what I actually used were 3 sets of quotation marks but he said they were similar. And asked me to edit the post. What do you think?

Is he right? Should I edit the comment? Or is he just trying to deflect from my criticism by saying it's antisemitic?

No bans or removals have happened yet in this situation as of writing this.

Edit: I want to say, that the reaction to this post is shameful, many of the people below in this posts' comments are some of the legitimately most disgusting people on planet earth. Holy fuck I anticipated some nastiness but never this much.

I'm not making another of these posts and I will be reporting and blocking any of the dipshits who make accounts to harass me in my DMs.

Maybe I fucked up, maybe I was too harsh. Maybe I owe some people apologies. I don't know at this point and I suspect I will never know for sure.

Also if you came here legitimately giving feedback and not just bad-jacketing or harassing me. I thank you and the above message wasn't meant for you. This post has been brigaded and shut down by a Zionist troll harassing me with a deluge of alt accounts.

Adendum to my post:

I should've known better than to trust or listen to @goat@sh.itjust.works in any way... I don't know how I missed this but if I saw this before posting this thread I never would've posted this thread at all, because there isn't any logic whatsoever here, and any assessments of me or dbzer0 made by goat are being made in bad faith.

Yeah April fools day has much darker history and connotations than most people realize.

Just wanted to share for people who moderate communities that Tesseract lets you see who voted on a post or comment. This means that as moderators you finally have the ability to take action against users who downvote every post in your community or who vote with multiple accounts, or similar situations.

This might not be a new thing but it's something no one is talking about and I just wanted to let you all know its a thing.

It works on this instance: https://t.lemmy.dbzer0.com/

Or at the main Tesseract Frontent: https://tesseract.dubvee.org/

Reported less than five of this dipshit's posts and he ended up banning me from all of his communities. Doesn't really surprise me. I've known that reports on Lemmy are faulty and Admin only reports, or more control of who receives them has been suggested but Lemmy's devs never listen.

My advice is to just send messages directly to your Admins as well as his admins, then he can't intercept them.

Really thought the old one was much cooler, does anyone else agree?

I mean it is what it is ultimately but I always thought the older one looked much cooler. While the new one looks very flat and plain.

What do you guys think though?

Recently noticed a resurfacing of the image bug that happened back when 0.19.6 was released where random posts with image links wouldn't be detected as the images they are.

I've noticed it happening for several posts on the instance, here's a few:

I'm making this post here though and not in the Github issue since it seems to be affecting only this current instance. I checked and it doesn't seem like lemmy.ml is affected at all. So in all likelihood it's probably limited to dbzer0. If anyone else notices this elsewhere pleas feel free to chime in and provide post links (dbzer0 copy, the origins don't help us since this is a dbzer0 issue).

This behavior is very concerning, especially since it's not a one-off, their other replies on that account aren't much better.
