My lukewarm take is that all this hate on AI is really just hating on big companies trying to squeeze money out of some new development. AI (or rather LLMs) are not the problem.

Might be an unpopular take but.. maybe being good at high school math tests is not really such an important gift in the real world.

What will keep you safe is not selling your business to a mega corp.

Shareholders: you doubled your profit last year, so I expect you to do it again this year.

"Someone else is doing something worse, so what I do doesn't count" is a very tempting story to tell yourself.

If they want to install anything on my phone other than apps I choose to install for my own convenience they better give me a work phone.

They're not saying you can't have an adblocker. They're saying their software will try not to serve you their data if you do, or at least make it inconvenient.

The UN and EU consider lots of things Israel does illegal. We just don't do anything about it and they don't care.

We all do this every day. In so many ways. We buy clothes we know come from sweatshops. We eat chocolate made from beans harvested by child slaves. We drive cars that are making the planet unliveable.

Most of us wouldn't sacrifice our lives or the acceptance of our community to save an unknown person far away from us. Heck maybe not even one close to us.

Because on one side you have a kid and on the other side you have hordes of psychologists paid millions for devising better ways to trick them into clicking.
