The number of ads per hour of video is higher. And people get addicted to the dopamine fix. Short videos generally will have to be incredibly stimulating to keep people watching.

Your dopamine goes through the rood for 15 seconds or 30 seconds, after that it drops down again and you need the next video to get it higher again and again. In between the videos you get ads, so in the end they lure you into watching a whole bunch of ads.

They optimize their algoritms so they know what keeps you watching. Could be cute puppies, could also be fake news about how everything is somebody elses fault, but they just want to keep you watching. They don't care about the truth, they need your eyes on the ads.

And that is how generations will be ruined.

The point for me is that the government automatically seems to think that cash payments are for something illegal. And all of a sudden, the burden is on me to proof that it is not.

While technically speaking, paying with cash is a very legal way to pay and should not require any explanation at all. Nor should it be more difficult.

Of course, there is a limit, and I get that paying a 2 million dollar house in cash is reason to at least ask where that money came from. But 3000 dollars or 100000 are amounts of money that in my opinion do not deserve the same amount of checking.

A lot of random but legal stuff can be done with 10000 dollars of cash. And yes, sometimes you use cash because you don't want your identity known. Doesn't mean you are doing something illegal. If the government thinks it is illegal, they should open an investigation and proof it.

Instead they put the burden on you. Doesn't seem fair to me, and a limitation on my personal freedom to spend money however I like.

Not to mention, even things that are legal now, could be made illegal by governments to come, and dictators or oppressive regimes will have no problems with checking logs to see which assholes did something that goes against their values in the past. For that reason alone, governments should only be tracking the minimum amount of information they need.

Sound like igrek.

This. It is annoying for 100% of the users, but a small percentage will be fooled and end up using OneDrive and probably end up paying.

It literally works like spam. Very little effort to cast a wide net and a small succes rate is enough to make a profit. Of course long term they keep pushing people out. But hey, profits this year, we'll see about next years when it hits us ..

Already canceled a long time ago. When I subbed they had all the good shows in one spot. Then everything got split up among others services and it was no longer worth it.

Plus the content they make themselves is hit or miss. And the misses are in far bigger numbers.

Seems like they brought themselves to a spot where growing more is very hard so they start messing with subscriptions to get more money.

Just curious what they are going to do when that stops working, because I think the next step is just to realize more growth is very hard. And anything they change may add subscribers but it may also cause them to leave, so they have to turn the knobs very carefully.

I symphatize with that, but it would seem they are definitely not going to last until they are successful. I respect that you work towards renewable energy, but they won't lose one night of sleep if they have to fire you down the road.

Take care of yourself, good luck.

Edit: I just remembered from another thread. Somebody shared a gem about hoping: Hope in one hand, shit in the other and see which one gets filled first.

Not to say hope is bad, but I also believe in being realistic about things.

I have been stressed out about everything in the past, but I worked through a lot of things.

The main thing for me is acceptence. I accept whatever comes at me, and I deal with it.

Missed the bus? I accept that that is the new situation, and then start thinking about how to deal with the consequences. Do I need to inform somebody that I will be later, or do I need to do anything else? Is there a different route I can take?

And what is also important, I watch myself. I make sure I get enough sleep and I have some time for myself to chill. It helps if you are not tired or burned out. I have been tired and burned out and it makes me far more emotional and unpredictable.

I accept that I am not in control of a lot of things. But I can always control my response to those things. If somebody is trying to piss me off, I can stay calm and that puts me in control of the situation.

I also realized that bad moods are contagious. If somebody was in a bad mood around me I would pick it up too. But now I figured, why? I don't want somebody elses state of mind to control mine. So I accept that they are in a bad mood, and choose to keep my mood going.

I choose to control myself in all circumstances, no matter how crazy, and it makes me happier and less stressed. I'm still not perfect but I feel a lot better a lot of the time.

And it's a great practice for emergency situations too. I've been able to solve some things rather quickly just by not panicking and making the right calls to give some things priority over others.

It's not just power either. Green energy is not good enough yet, but there are other problems.

Whole industries are built on using whatever is left after certain oil processes. You might be using something right now, that has resources that in the end would not be there without oil mining.

PVC floors use part of oil that is left over after kerosine is made for airplanes. So if we stop using fuel, we also have to figure out a replacement for that. And this is just one example. There could be thousands of things like this.

Because we have the oil and the leftovers, we use it and have very efficient technology to create products that we need. So if we stop using fuel, we have solved one problem(and I don't believe we will be able to do this for quite some time), but there will be consequences everywhere.

Jobs will disappear, whole industries need to start over and find different ways of producing things with different, green resources. The very foundation that our society is built on will need to shift.

I believe plastic is also an oil product. Can you imagine a world with no plastic? I know it is bad for the environment, but if you want to package food safely, or medicine, what is the alternative?

It is going to take a tremendous amount of effort, innovation and money to get even close to stopping with oil, and even more to solve all the problems that will follow.

So, what is your deal? What have you been up too?

[-] MrAlternateTape@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

If that is the only thing saving you from RSI you're going to get it anyway.

I've had the pleasure, and your body posture and mental state of mind are much more important. Getting up every now and then is also important, changing seat position helps, and doing some sport also helps.

Both of my arms did hurt so much I could not cut my own meat. Mouse or no mouse:(.

Am much better now though.

It sounds really beautiful and all, but the abuse will stay unless real consequences wake them up. Consequences that they cannot talk themselves out of, since they usually are real good talkers.

So take care of yourself, leave them be in their misery or stay a victim. I know what I would choose.
