I'd consider an optical drive emulator like GDEMU so you can store your entire collection on an SD card. This ensures your physical collection lasts longer and loading times are shorter as well.

Agreed, this has been my experience as well. I tried switching to full time Linux multiple times. I had already used it on my laptop for years but on my desktop I kept going back to Windows because things on Windows just worked the way I wanted and thought that for some things there weren't any Linux alternatives.

That was until two years ago I challenged myself to only use Linux for a month. I've been using Linux on my desktop ever since and only use Windows now and then to play a single game that doesn't work on Linux due to anti cheat.

Luckfox Pico Mini might be you're looking for. It's a Linux SBC that costs around 10 USD, in a Teensy/Raspberry Pico or even smaller formfactor.

"Finally freed of those pesky Windows updates!"

Nintendo would rather want games to not be preserved so people can shell out some money to play a remaster on the next gen or 2.

Except if you upgrade ZFS pools to a newer version that's not yet supported by Grub.

Uhh.... Aren't... Aren't these two statements kinda contradictory?

No no, you see; it performs reasonably consistency under varying real world conditions but for a CPU to truly shine it needs to handle all workloads, including unrealistic synthetic ones.

I love Slay the Spire. It's been a while since I played it on PC but nowadays I play it on my phone or tablet every now and then. I backed the Slay the Spire boardgame on Kickstarter that will be shipped some time soon and I can't wait to try it out.

I think the max I got was Ascension 6, I'm not that good at deck builders I think. The Silent and Ironclad are my favourites and I play whatever fits my mood. Getting insane high block together body slam is just as much fun as getting insanely high poison stacks. I never once made it through act 4 sadly.

The music is also something I really enjoy, it fits the game so well! Sometimes I listen to it while driving or working.

Modding classic iPods is such an awesome rabbit Hole. You can exchange the mini hard drive with anything from regular SD cards to quad micro-SD cards to even MSATA and M.2 SSDs. This also creates extra room to install a giant battery if you want to.

I am currently trying to find a way to embed a Bluetooth transmitter so I can use my Bluetooth headphones with it.

There's even an alternative firmware called Rockbox that allows you to just plug in the iPod using USB and put MP3s on it instead of using iTunes.

I also own a Creative Zen Vision but it's sadly not as customizable and there's no Rockbox firmware for it.

Edit: before posting I didn't see the link to the original post which talks about most of the above.

I've been running Linux on my laptop for years but not on my PC because I thought I needed Windows for whatever it is that I was doing. In December I challenged myself to switch to Linux for a month and I never really went back. I still have dual boot Windows for when I want to play some Valorant since that doesn't work on Linux sadly.
