You can always use Adwaita. Actually it's my preferred theme. I find the user created ones too flat and unixporn-y.

Oh sure, I'm still learning so I thought you meant references as in pointers like in C++. But also, Rust isn't a strictly object oriented language either. It shares a lot of similar features, but they aren't all the typical way you'd do things in an OOP language. You should check out the chapter of the Rust book for ownership.

Are you... Serious? Because computers are math machines. That's literally their purpose. If you're programming anything lower level than a JS app then you need to understand what's going on closer to the hardware. CS is a pretty general field and I appreciate the math classes that I've taken so far because I am planning to go into embedded systems and therefore will be actually using a lot of it.
