Just ordered an M1 Mini Mac and was wondering. Does Vulkan work on it? Thinking of testing some games on it. :)

Makes sense. I have great hope for NVK, the open source Nvidia Vulkan driver, in 1 or 2 years. Perhaps then, things will be the other way around. :)

The last part of this benchmark series. Windows was thermal throttling like a madman and still managed to be faster when all was said and done. A testament to how bad the Nvidia drivers are on Linux.

Nvidia won't go above 80W cause the drivers are bugged. Still, decent showing. Next video will be Linux vs Windows on the 3080M, last one of this benchmarking series.

Nvidia SUCKS! (discuss.tchncs.de)

I am trying to repeat my 10 Benchmarks video on my 3080M laptop, which I haven't really used for a while apart from testing NVK. I had forgotten just HOW much Nvidia sucks. I had to reinstall the OS cause OpenSUSE stopped booting after I installed the drivers the first time. X11 is ALSO buggy on Nvidia and crashes randomly. windows won't show, the Steam Friends List window hangs. This is almost unusable.

NAK and GSP cannot be merged soon enough so I can get rid of this proprietary atrocity.

A request that was asked since these games apparently run better on Windows. Vermintide 2 is about 20% faster on Linux and Doom Eternal about 20% faster on Windows.

You're right, I will do that for the next ones. I just couldn't hold my excitement. XD

You say that like I'm afraid to do it. You're missing the point that these games don't have benchmarks lol. If you want I can do a gameplay comparison but don't tell me, the areas or movements are not the same. :)

Also these games couldn't be more diverse. I tested DXVK, VD3D and Vulkan (both on Linux and Windows) with these games. If you can find a more diverse benchmark please let me know, cause I haven't found one.

Also, I'm already doing benchmarks on my i7-10870H and 3080 laptop. Linux won't go above 80W, cause of the Nvidia Drivers (545 Beta btw) so the difference will be IMMENSE for Windows there.

I don't see an argument which disproves my results apart from you disbelief. But I like the Nvidia comment. I'll do a video of Linux vs Windows on my 3080M laptop. We'll see how true is that Nvidia works as well as AMD on Linux. :)

A video for any doubters that Linux gaming is better than Windows in which it DESTROYS Windows by 25% in AC Odyssey. To put it in perspective, 25% improvement is like getting a new GPU. You can save $600 and instead use something like OpenSUSE Tumbleweed for free.

DISCLAIMER: I don't really care to make Linux look better but I did a video some days ago and EVERYONE (on Reddit) told me Linux gaming CANNOT be faster or smoother. This is the proof it's both and more videos will be coming.

Oh I didn't know that, thanx for letting me know! :)

Have you tried something like Nobara? I'm pretty sure DaVinci Resolve works on Fedora (which Nobara is based on) and you will get the latest optimizations as well. I am on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed just cause best performance on my system.

Performance is progressing nicely on Linux. :)

For the people that say that Starfield doesn't run well on Linux.

Link if anyone's interested.

The avalanche has just began.

Me, circa 2018 when I installed Linux for uni and decided to try Proton just to troll Linux. Little did I know... XD

The have laid off half their stuff and I think they're getting sold.

Not wrong but it would be a nice alternative at the very least. That's why I talked about ads so they also have an incentive beyond donations if they want to monetize. Perhaps a download button with the itch.io system would also be an option. It's just something that doesn't exist yet and I think has great potential.

I LOVE KDE. Seriously. But there is no proper Sliding TWM for it at the moment and it's soooooo good having a proper one. I tried Karousel but it was too glitchy, especially when streaming. Thus, I am on Gnome with PaperWM. A simply phenomenal experience! :)

Nah, the increase is 0.52%. Could be a little overblown? Yeah. Could be completely wrong? Very doubtful. Next month it will probably drop a little and keep climbing steadily but surely. But the fact that for this month Linux gamers are more than MacOS gamers for the first time is at the very least very impressive! :)
