All that? Well, I understand your point, but honestly I have more fun learning something new, and was really little work.

Anyway... Its an option too

No it doesnt. It only support ready photos from folders, then the original structure is lost inside Immich, you cannot even see the folders only the big "timeline". All albums (=folders) disappear in immich, It's useless for my use case.

Do NOT relock a phone unless stock ROM is installed!

The system image signature will be different and you will brick your phone.

This is true for Samsung and Xiaomi, might not be true for Pixels, but I wouldn't risk it.

OK, I installed tdarr and... Well, not impressed. Quite messy, low quality UI and... Paid features. Meh

Tomorrow will try Unmanic, feels much more refined, I will see.

Nothing against "paid" in tdarr, just doesn't seems worthwhile given the low quality of the UI.

I am sure I am judging the book by the cover, but hey, even the Unmanic documentation feels better.

Tdarr looks great, but I don't love Foss software which have paid plans attached. Can it be used really for free if I have one server and plan to do all transcoding there?

While Docker is a great tool with lots of reasons to use it, why should it MUST be the only solution? Installing on bare-metal gives me more control of what and how i install and i fond it more fun than typing "docker compose up". There are already tons of package managers (including npm, pip etc) that another one, one on which you have even less control (let's talk about all these images created so that everything runs as root?), is not really needed for me at least.

I want the possibility to go bare-metal, and i will go bare-metal every time i have the possibility. Yes Docker might seems more convenient, but do i need a reason NOT to use Docker, really? Are we at this point? This is "self-hosting" which means doing things the way we prefer, not following the herd or going with packaged solutions. And i have more fun with bare-metal than Docker. Is this enough?

Why are you so much against giving the optional opportunity to go bare-metal then, can you elaborate?

Nginx! Simplex essential and easy.

Unless you need to rely a lot on CGIs then apache maybe is better.
