It all makes sense when you realize who makes the cutoff for what they consider "people."

I mean, our country was founded through a bunch of people getting really uncivil and violent. Sure, it still needed - and still needs - a lot of improvement to be fair for everyone who wasn't part of the "in-group," but the same could be said for most countries at the time ours was founded.

I certainly don't believe that it's necessary to be uncivil and violent to achieve a fair and civil society, but it has shown past success at ridding a country of leaders who don't have the people's best interests at heart.

That's the way it's been for a while now. There's so many crises that we just run to the new one every few days, forgetting about the old one and never actually resolving any of them. Considering how complaisant the burnout makes us, I'd imagine it's not entirely happenstance that things are so hectic.

Sure, but you could selectively breed rabbits for 1,000,000 years and get a glow in the dark rabbit; GFP is just a protein like any other - if you painstakingly selectively breed for a specific DNA sequence, you'll eventually get it regardless of your starting genetic pool. Classic selective breeding is a form of genetic modification - modern genetic modification methods are just way faster.

I agree that we don't currently know enough about genetics to utilize genetic modification without unforeseen side effects, and so there should be limitations on what we're able to genetically modify until we can show that we understand it well enough to meaningfully minimize potential issues, but those same issues occur with selective breeding - they're, again, just slower.

Tell everyone else not to try the lasagna?

If it was realistic to expect people to do that, fast food wouldn't be the enormous moneymaker it is.

The issue is that we're not in this situation accidentally. Every 4 years we say "I know it sucks, but for now we just have to vote out the lesser evil, then we can focus on change" then go 4 more years without making any changes. We'll always just be voting for the lesser of 2 evils, whether for this election or the 2064 election. Everyone with any real say in the government loves how things are working out right now, and has no intention to allow us to truly vote for anyone other than 2 candidates that have been vetted by the oil companies.

Yeah, at first I thought they were saying it evened out considering most people's careers are longer than an NFL player's, but even just 1 year as an NFL player nets more money than I'll ever earn in my life. Several lose it all, but that's from spending it on hookers and blow, not because they're forced to live paycheck to paycheck.

Correct, but you won't know if they think you're gross until you talk to them. If you see that they think you're gross, you stop. It's harassment when you see that they think you're gross but continue talking to them anyway, because at that point you know they aren't going to respond well to you, and you're just continuing on to spite them.

Hamas is evil, yes, but ultimately Israel isn't attacking Hamas. It's attacking Palestinians indiscriminately and hoping afterward that some of them might've been associated with Hamas. People aren't calling for a ceasefire because they like Hamas, they're calling for it because Hamas has nothing to do with Israel's attack on Palestine besides being a convenient scapegoat.

The republicans that I know don't give a shit. They don't pay any attention to what their politicians do, and they don't want to hear about it, either. If they do somehow learn that republicans aren't supporting the very thing they asked for, all it'll take to convince them that's a good thing is someone on fox news saying it somehow wasn't really going to do what they wanted, and they'll accept it without any further elaboration. It doesn't matter if it's a lie - they'll never know or care.

It does. That's what I do, and it works perfectly. This is already a feature of the app.
