Oh snap, that's awesome! I wasn't aware of this. I assumed NATO would be consistent with the US on mines. Thank you for sharing this.

I'll modify my argument to "Even the US and Ukraine use mines"

It's interesting though, according to my research the distinction between mines and weapons lie in how it's activated. For example, the C19 ex-Claymore is now remote detonation only to comply with the Ottawa treaty because it can only be activated remotely and cannot be used with an indiscriminate activator like a tripwire. Therefore it is a weapon. With this les, the pagers/radios are more akin to weapons rather than mines.

So booby traps are allowed, as long as someone is there to decide when to press the button, which the Israelies clearly did.

Might be an unpopular opinion While JD has said plenty of horrible things, this reads more like someone relating how they felt in the moment than reciting what was actually said. I'm sure most parents have felt this way at some point. We don't need to make this mole hill into a mountain. There's already a whole mountain range of his shit that's actually egregious.

Part of the problem is that from a social history standpoint, libertarianism typically has attracted people looking for an ideology to justify their selfishness.

The ideology that tends to attract people who value social organization while minimizing a forceful overarching government has been anarchism.

Because they are reacting to living under the oppressive structures of late capitalism. Having been raised in a capitalist world, they naturally overemphasize economic systems and their alternatives and make assumptions about government.

So when they communism theyusually mean communism + some equitable government or just they mean socialist democracy.

Funnily enough, you live pretty well in China these days if you're a good little capitalist.

Can you elaborate on how capitalism is a meaningful political system?
