My reddit account got a strike by an admin for describing the risks involved in traveling to the USA currently (abduction, torture for an undetermined amount of time). The appeal I made to that was accepted but it left a sour taste in my mouth.
it's a common criticism on reddit that the nsfw subs are just becomijg advertsfor OF so I'm not surprised they dont get much interaction
Trump and Vance hold no actual power. Musk is now the shadow president of the USA.
I guess we now know who will really hold power in the oval office. Spoiler: it's not Trump
In authoritarian environments, any compassion you show the declared enemy is a grave offense and needs to be punished severely.
I'd say that they've been mask-off for quite a while tbh.
I fixed a bug in an open source project we use and got into trouble for it :|
I'm not the biggest fan of capitalism myself but the existence of debt does not mean it is broken. Debt is a mechanism to allow for solid investments, e.g. building infrastructure or schools that will create a net positive in the (far) future.
Germany for example has enacted a Schuldenbremse (debt-break) in 2009 and forbids our states to take on new debt and limits the debt taken on the federal level to a minisule percentage of the GDP. Our infrastructure is currently slowly but noticeably crumbling away, bridges are getting closed for heavy traffic and experts say many of them have become irreparable due to missing maintenance and need to be fully rebuild in a few years. The local military barracks are in such a desolate condition that the soldiers need to drive two towns over to shower. We might not take on financial debt, but an infrastructure debt that will demand an even bigger toll on us.
If you're in Germany, a car is the best weapon to get away with murder since car drivers (especially the elderly) usually get only a slap on the wrist if they injure or even kill someone.
You're pulling an argument of another person into my argument and accuse me of hypocrisy based on that.
You are arguing in bad faith, have a nice day.
Most responses tell you to add them yourself which is a solution to this problem. But I think the reason why the state of businesses on OSM and Organic Maps (which uses OSM as a source) is so dire is interesting too:
OSM must not use other maps as sources. In fact, they must not use any information that hasn't been licensed in a way that specifically allows OSM to use it. As such, they can't just go to Google Maps and copy all the business information over because Google has not licensed that information in an open way. Information like streets, paths or houses can be gleaned from satellite pictures that have been provided to OSM and can be put in easily so they tend to be up-to-date. But for businesses, someone has to actually go there and confirm the information.
Now why is Google so good at that? Because almost every business owner makes sure to put their business on GMaps themselves and keep that information updated so it doesn't depend on one person going through the area regularly.
Yep, same here. Absolutely unacceptable behaviour
