You probably need to use localhost lol or the name of container set in the docker compose file. Both might work, I forget

It’s actually really funny you say that since starting out with default gnome is actually what got me to stick with Linux. I tried out Ubuntu style gnome and tried stuff like dash to panel and dash to dock but found it either unstable or hated it. Vanilla gnome is what got me to be at peace lol. I thought I didn’t like it at first but then it just suddenly clicked once I got over that. Calling it bad is just rude.

Oh yeah for sure I’m just mentioning what it means in this context. Definitely means snap is more insecure off Ubuntu though.

Sandbox not working = insecure. Very simple

I’m ngl I think Fairphone 5 might actually be better, I think more of the hardware is supported in postmarketOS compared to the 4.

I kinda just do, I press super maybe once every 10 minutes or so and just see all my windows. It takes me maybe half a second to find what I want and that’s it. Less time if I’ve already setup my workspaces as I can just three finger swipe or super plus scroll to get to what I want. Pretty simple.

If you’re talking about the little delays, I have experienced them, loading pages can take a second or more when I’m not on home wifi which can be frustrating at times. I think they only occur when you switch apps though.

It’s actually funny, our hardware setups are almost identical lol. Maybe it’s something like ram or ssd speeds. Or maybe software. What OS are you running? I’m using fedora server 39 and podman instead of docker.

The way you talk about the webmail makes it sound incredibly funny. I gotta try it out.

I think the main reason why the implementation is insecure by default is simply because when it started most applications did not use portals and many portals we have today did not exist. You had to poke holes in the sandbox to make anything work cause all applications expected to run unconstrained. In the future as more apps become flatpak aware this should stop being an issue.

What are your reasons to use gnome over kde? Most of the things you mentioned are reasons I use gnome over kde so I’m curious to know other perspectives.

I installed Linux on my old main laptop and battery life went up by like 2 hours lol. You might want to look into battery life solutions like tlp.
