That's my philosophy too. I like browsing all so I heavily filter with keywords and blocking. My community block list is approaching 600

However many VPNs deployed in mid to large work environments are not just a VPN but a whole endpoint client that is filtering web access, etc and logging everything.

I know most people here would know the difference but I guess unsurprisingly most don't have a clue as they just call it "the VPN" even though its much more then that.

I'd just like to point that out

A lot of changes look wierd on the surface from the companies, these are experiments for figuring out how to extract more money.

In this case my guess is people constantly look to seek out new content and avoid older content. If people don't know, that could lead more general engagement then baseline and therefore an increase in revenue.

Especially if its a system that you have told management needs to be replaced but they aren't interested in spending the money..

Sales, marketing and support most likely. It has a massive corporate userbase. I'm guessing the actual tech side of the house is only a small fraction.

A better way of turning it off is uninstalling it

The only thing that made twitter useable. No ads. You put your lists of people into columns, so you only saw exactly what you wanted to see. No algos trying to shove "you may like" stuff down your throat.

I use it for work reasons but I'm not paying for it, I'll deal without and start digging into what needs can be fulfilled with mastodon. I stopped using it the first time it broke for a week due to elon and I thought it was over then.
